Thread regarding AT&T layoffs

He said we could “get by on 30%”

I was present when Randall made his announcement about the 2020 plan. People keep misquoting what he said. He did NOT say 30% of the workforce could be let go. He said T could “GET BY on 30%” of the workforce. That means he was looking at a 70% reduction even back then.

"Someone from Tech Mahindra has let the cat out of the bag and said this is just the first round if layoffs."

Tech Mahindra's website shows press release (link below) stating:
"The [AT&T] transformation roadmap also aims to optimize AT&T’s IT application footprint by aggregating functionalities, while optimizing business processes, costs, efficiencies and overall quality."

That's an overhaul and lots of changes. And it will take a long time so expect waves and waves of modifications to how and what you work on.

The managers will get by cleaning portapots, the work didn’t get done so they fire the manager. Lifes a beach.

Imagine your pitch to investors on T’s future being “we’ll get by”, the board room begins to stand up one by one they begin to clap then cheer, louder and louder they erupt in furious excitement, “Randall you son of a gun you’ve done it again, how many billions do you need, here take the checkbook!!”

Amazing.

Does it matter? He proved himself wrong and would rather leave than deal with t anymore.

You can get by on less than that when you have no intention of spending money on infrastructure repair.

Who cares what he said. You seem to still be here. What's your point?

Did the new York times misquote him too?
