Do it the way they want so they see the time consumption and how techs fail at the numbers game, if you cheat the system to make it work, your making them think it’s working.....nothing will improve oe be TRUE, stupid true test

Those techs that waste time waiting for perfect Atlas closeout tests or jep all their jobs due to failed True testing end up getting put on a PIP for not getting anything productive done.

Think of this company's mandatory compliance procedures as an intelligence test - you either find a workaround to the BS or you fail along with management's stupid tests.

I concur. As an AT&T manager in another department outside of IEFS/TFS (AFO-Core now), I’ve seen first hand the level of nonsense micromanagement surrounding the requirements for AirTies testing. It’s baffling for sure, but they do document and discipline techs each and every day for this.

@2wmd, the test is done through an app on our phones or ipads. It has to be performed connecting to an air tie booster, not the RG. So there's the first problem - we're not even testing the actual signal strength from the actual RG that the customer is using!

Secondly, the test will not upload unless you have at least two samples, and if they are both strong signals it will not upload (meaning that mgmt believes you did both tests in your truck or right next to the RG. Of coarse, the solution is just walk around your truck for the second sample!

The micromanagement at this place is absolutely ridiculous. We honestly spend half our work day doing pointless procedural, testing, and safety compliance bullsh!t.

Easy test to by pass.. carry and old phone or tablet, throw onto customers wifi then run the test right next to the router.

They need to be arrested. Every time they don't leave when asked, along with whomever told them to do this. That will stop it fairly quickly.

2nd gen bell brat here. One thing I know... this company will f— you whenever it's convenient or profitable for the company; employee or customer. Watch your back. Watch out for yourself. There are reasons people hate the phone company. In time, this will be on the list.

The best ones are studios that we test as having gyms and patios lol. It's really bad, super bad, when a Sheriff's office (even just the one so far) has to advise its citizens to call 9-1-1 if an AT&T tech tries to barge into their home. This company has sunk to an entirely new low.

So let me get this straight, the tech comes out , wants to map the house to make a treasure map to find One Eyed Willies treasure. Me, being the homeowner tells the tech to go pound sand. The tech goes back to the deathstar, tells Vader that he could not map out One Eyed Willies treasure and Vader proceeds to skull _ _ _ _ the guy. And just what did we accomplish with any of this ? My god, are we now the federal government ?

ALL installations and repairs with an airtie compatible router require a mandatory wifi map performed by the technician. The technician is required to go into EVERY room in the house, whether the customer wants them to or not. Every return trip, even if it has nothing to do with wifi, requires a subsequent wifi map in every room of the customer's house.

ALL airtie test results are to be uploaded to the Deathstar's cloud monitoring system. If a technician misses even one wifi mapping 'opportunity', for whatever reason, he receives a talk from his manager to explain why. Continued missed 'opportunities' lead to progressive discipline up to and including termination.

The absolute arrogance of this corporation's management to think that this company can force itself into people's private residences for a bullsh!t test designed to sell air tie range boosters at $49 a pop. If they really cared about wifi signal strength throughout the house they could use more powerful wireless routers instead of the junk that we install now.

Yes they push mapping on repairs too. Even if the trouble is outside they still want a WiFi map. But we should have inside access to the rg at minimum on a repair no matter what. The tech may have been trying to wifi map in rooms he didn’t need to be in and taking things to literally. Just 2 rooms are required to be be able to upload the test and be compliant. So he could’ve just tested at the rg location and one other room and be done with it.

That is unless the manager is a super micromanaging d–k-hole and is looking at each uploaded test for the number of rooms tested, signal strength, if any airties were sold, and has his own ideas on how he wants it done??...that’s another problem.

Could be something local. I had new U-verse service installed a few months ago and had the tech configure all of the wireless receivers by my main TV and told him that I would install them later after I knew the service was stable and there was no issue. On the other hand I have called for outages of my landline and have had techs call and say that they would need access to the house even after I told them the problem was outside the NID. I refused on the phone and they fixed the outside problem. Don't know why they didn't simply say that they would check at the NID first.

I don’t know what Wifi mapping is, but I’m guessing it is something that managers want the techs to do because it increases their chances at a higher bonuses. Basically another thing they can micromanage their techs with because they countless other metrics they use just aren’t enough.

The audacity of att to tell a tech you may not leave a customer site until you map their home, even after the customer says no. Wow.
