Pipe(internet access) everything runs on it. I still find it hilariously funny that we are not investing in expanding fiber footprint. With all the wasted Billions we could have 3/4 of country paying monthly for the fiber network access $50+ monthly (200 million customers ) $10 Billion in monthly revenue potential. Not to mention all the new jobs it would bring.

Verizon has stopped expanding FiOS because it isn't profitable to do it so that it reaches 3/4 of their customers and you think that AT&T should have done that across the country? You are ready to join Randy's consulting team.

yeah I have friends who went to dtv from uverse and they are now going to cable. they are sick of att and all their bs. dtv still cuts out when it rains and they come over the screen saying that the rain storm is causing outages and service should return soon. what a joke. you can have all your satellites I still would like to have service when it rains.
How many people wait until the shutoff notice is issued and decide that a solar/electrical storm is the time to pay it? I do realize there are some. Going to be a lot of people who wait until the last hour of the last day to sign up for their insurance. And b–ch about the systems being slow or overloaded.
So you think people will be fine with intermittent service when they are in the middle of a big game, taking online test, sending tax info., banking, kids doing homework assignments, etc... ?
Hey honey we can’t pay our bill on time or watch tv because a solar/electrical storm is happening? We will watch that national championship when service comes back and download it. Now don’t turn on the radio, answer your phone or look at any news it will spoil it.
At least DTV customers have a wired internet line to stream if the sats aren’t working
Satellites that you speak of i.e. directv are geosynchronous in orbit and 22,400 some miles in space. Starlink is going to have 12,000 low earth orbit satellites floating about 300 miles. They will be able to transmit data in the gigabits with very little latency. Weather is always factor but it will have the same effect as it will on 5G.
Not to mention, satellite bandwidth is still very expensive to deploy and maintain. It makes sense for serving certain remote areas, distributing the same content over wide areas, and similar uses, but not for many two-way services.
Small cell very high speed wireless will make an impact, but fiber should be a viable medium for a long time.
Has anyone noticed how satellite don’t always have a reliable connection ie... rainstorms, sun radiation storms, earths atmosphere. Businesses want a reliable hardwired signal.
Just think about how the quality of tv when they are interviewing or reporting from a distance via satellite. Cuts in and out, has a delay etc...
When Elon Musk deploys his Starlink internet to the public nobody is going to need AT&T internet.
