On L. I. ....the package goes out next Tuesday 11/19. Off payroll 12-22. Regular IPP. No numbers or titles given yet.

Actually they have had package with temps, happened in 92 or 93. Not sure if diff under vz, but did it with ny tel , thing is we havnt had temps for17 years or so ( going by lowest seniority at work) Any deal would iprobably involve permancy tho.
@2dib. I'm confused. Are you craft? If so you will have medical even in retirement, at least until end of current contract. Best wishes for a full recovery.
In New York we have temps on the payroll you can't declare a surplus until you get rid of them. I'm sure negotiations are hung up on that.

Ditto to -2ice. 60 and 29 years??? People should stop listening to the knuckleheads and do your own research. The 30 and out mantra means 30 years and out at any age. So, if you start at 18 then you "can" leave at 30 making the earliest departure with full VZ benefits at 48 years old. Of course, you'll be too young to collect SS and they'll tax the hell out of your 401k and pension but that's not VZ concern. That's between you and the IRS. You'll also have to figure out what to do from 48 to 59 1/2 which is when you can touch your 401k. 62 for SS. 65 for Medicare etc. Most don't leave because of this and will wait if they don't have a sizable nest egg ready. The next 75 plateaus are 50/25, 55/20 and 60/15. But all is not lost. Hey, look at the bright side at 30 years you may get the telephone concession, Woohoo!
29 years and 60 years old you have had medical long ago. your way over the 75 number.

In New York the company has notified the unions that they are going to be declaring a surplus. That has not happened yet. After that they will be sending out at a package. Which is rumored to be an e i p p which adds $10,000 + 2200 / years of service. Not sure if there is a 30 year or 40 year cap on that number.
