If AT&T was to offer a good severance package (and I mean a really good one) to everybody and gave us a choice between taking it and leaving or staying, is there a single person here who would actually choose to stay?
Basically, is anybody here because they really want to be or is everybody just waiting for a better opportunity to come up?
I never planned on leaving until in Early 2015 they offered a full lump sum plus 10% more on top of that. About 10,000 employees were offered this. I had met Rule of 75. While considering my choices, Donovan was sent out two emails saying "There very well may be layoffs later in the year, so consider this offer." I had about four weeks to meet with Fidelity and other investment companies to see if I had enough money to leave. And then I considered I'd need to work 18 months to make up the 10% kicker on the lump sum. The threat from Donovan worried me and Fidelity said I could have retired a year earlier with no problem. I took the offer.
Now I see what I missed, the even more frequent craziness TechDev is going through. Plus my AVP retired, effectively cutting the head off the snake I was part of and I would have gone from Sr. Technical Architect to who knows were. Just my story. Satisfied now.

$250,000.00 severance will be sufficient. Added to 401k, Roth ira and pension most employees will accept.
Yup. I’d stay. Good pay, healthcare, matching 401k. This job is too easy to voluntarily leave.
Considering the time period the last hiring binge happened, many are going to be just shy of the 75 rule. They probably won't take it until they at least reach that point. ( myself included )
The other big group are those who already have 30+ years of service. They're just waiting for an offer of any kind for the extra cash otherwise, they'll stick around and keep drawing paychecks because why not ?
If AT&T were to make ANY decent, serious offer, they would seriously have to limit who it was offered to otherwise they would end up losing half the company within a week.
That is exactly what all the animosity and hate is about. Management thinks you are overpaid. The last thing they want to do is reward you. That’s what all the misery is about. Make your job so miserable you leave on your own. No company interested in growing and thriving would treat employees like att does.
It kinda feels like that now. I come to work every day with a fuukkkk it mode. Its not like i care what happens, what are they going to do? Fire me ,lay me off? Thats going to happen anyway. So in reality i have been getting a nice severance package the past couple of years. Once you realize that stressing over this company is worthless you will live happier. Just enjoying the pay checks until they stop coming.

If it's the standard severance, I would be hesitant to take it. I get paid well at T, and the benefits are good. Toss in the severance tax increase, the phone and DTV discount, plus the fact my state does not pay unemployment if you take a voluntary surplus.... and it would be a dilemma for me. Probably would lean towards staying.
Almost 40 years of service but they’re gonna have to tell me to leave. I won’t volunteer.

Leaving in 2020 regardless. I'd sign up for about any offer. Just staying until 12-31 to collect whatever team bonus they throw us. Any offer would be icing on the cake. Already got a place to land in Jan; they have better pay, toilet paper, coffee, paved parking, furniture that is less than 50 yrs old, pay raises, actual computers, and no layoffs. Why would I stay?
Don’t dream folks. No offer, no free money coming to you. Yes your wish to leave att will come true. But it will come as an outsourcing, you will be sold out to another company. Just like that...
If they offered 1 yr salary, I would take it.
Pointless asking the question of those that want to leave.
If there is any offer at this point I will voluntarily take it. I’ll be leaving sometime after the first of the year. Might as well get paid to go.
I would leave even with half the current severance pay. I can easily get another gig out side.

I’ll stay long as I can but soon as I hit mod75 I’d take an offer and go be a contractor for another company until I’m older and ready to really retire

I’m not in ANY hurry! Just hit 61, next year I got SS coming. Pensions lumps are way UP....I’ll wait until it’s the most advantageous for ME! If I get a over fine....if not I’ll keep watching the pension rate and collecting EASY money!😂😂😂😂

If you are given just the regular offer, take it! It is a lot more than you will be offered in the future.
I would leave if they offered standard package.
I would leave ASAP, take offer and go.
I think that is the best we can hope for with this level of leadership
