Thread regarding AT&T layoffs

The movie Titanic

was on the other day and got me thinking about AT&T. Remember the scene right after the Titanic struck the iceberg and you see kids kicking chunks of ice around the deck while passengers continue eating, drinking and laughing then the captain orders the ship carpenter sand the deck... to prevent damage from the salt water I assume. It’s a perfect analogy to our current situation here at AT&T. The Titanic being our corporation, employees laughing and enjoying life immediately after hitting the DirecTV iceberg while our captain Randy orders the deck sanded. All the while from that very moment the ship was sunk and our fate sealed. Some will ultimately survive in the life boats while many others will go down with this ship but make no mistake, just because the lights are still on and the band is still playing doesn’t mean this ship will stay a float. It’s all about perspective I guess....

AT&T may be hitting on all cylinders..... was once an 8 cylinder and now is barely a two cylinder clanking along

Love the folks on here thinking wireless is safe and a money maker. It is for now but things are going to be changing in the wireless market and att as usual just keeps things business as usual. wireless is about to become like landlines. people want a big pipe and are buying phones from other sources so you cannot lock the customers in anymore. perfect analogy to when you had buy your landline phone from ma bell and what happened after that stopped. but no worries just keep it business as usual. I have my popcorn and will enjoy the show.

OP here... my original point was the ship was sunk the second it hit the iceberg, my apologies for misquoting the captain but that wasn’t the point. I think we are at the point in Titanic when the first lifeboats are being partially filled and all hell is about to break loose but you keep focusing on the “sand the deck” instead of “sound the ship” if that makes you feel better.

The next part is when Stanky dresses like a woman and pushes women and children out of his way to get to a lifeboat.

As long as it follows the movie and we get to see Kate Winslett naked before it sinks, then I’m good with it.

My perspective is, the stock is knocking on $39/share. I'm the guy that was here at the beginning of 2019 saying AT&T was a buy at $30. There is no Titanic in wireless. DTV ─ so long as the stock is below $42, DTV is priced out of the situation. Dividend is intact, Fed is lowering interest rates (to boost the stock market), dividend paying stocks benefit.

AT&T has done extraordinarily well this year. They are a huge contributor to my position. And Elliott has seemed to derailed Stankey as the successor CEO-Chairman. From a recent owner's perspective, AT&T is hitting on all cylinders, at least all the cylinders available.
