Thread regarding Verizon Communications Inc. layoffs

We are all in the same boat union or non

Does anyone realize that low level union and non union employees are in the same boat sink or swim?Mostly Sinking !!So who cares they gave management a extra week vac.Great for them .I get it we definitely have some management around that we definitely can say wish they took a long walk off short pier. But some are just pawns like rest so They get a extra week but have other sh–ty deals .we dont get the week extra but get plenty of other benefits from our bargained contract that i would not give up.If you want the extra week go join management and other way around if you want bargained benefits join the collective bargaining ,But enough who got what or who is better or gonna last longer cause We are all going down together on this ship

When I was made to work as a field tech during the strike I made it darn clear to the union guys I was there to work as slowly as possible, and I stayed there chatting with 'em for as long as possible in front of the customer's house. I gave them the address for my next stop so they could show up on their own schedule. I took their picture for them in front of my work van so they could prove to their steward they were there on duty... yet somehow were all in the same picture at the same time.

I knew darned well why I was getting OT with multipliers. I knew darned well why my healthcare coverage was so good. I knew darned well why I had a pension. Everything they won something on the picket line, I got my cut and I sure as heck wasn't going to stab myself in the back by giving it my all as an EWA.

I know there were some bad stories about some folks getting riled up, and I personally dealt with it too, but I understood their anger. I also prevented my partner from taking a red-shirt's picture when he stepped into the customer prem to yell at us, because I knew the company would fire him for that.

I'm glad you guys won, and most of us in the garage were rooting for ya.

When RIFd, the 6th week vacation will come in handy when paid for unused accrued vacation.

Really great post. Thanks for the balance that is missing here. You are dead right. Who cares about an extra week vacation, for God's sake widen your gaze people. This ship is going down.

11PIkBR4-1onf, are you a disgruntled manager? HI ask because all offers that are presented on the Associate level have never broken down to the individual but, rather, are based on seniority, title, and area.
What you describe does not occur within the union realm, the scenario in which you claim individuals are offered buy-outs because they “don’t do sh- and are out on bennies”.
So, I ask, are you just another lying troll, or are you instead offering a just another disgruntled manager’s assessment of fellow managers, his or her peers?

no offer no leavie ! I 'll just be a total piece of sh– and do nothing like some of my coworkers. Then maybe I will get the offer.I hate to be that way but Ive seen it played out many times. The guys who dont do sh– and are out on bennies always get an offer,Time to get something done about these chronic hemorrhoids. Especially if im going to be sitting on my a– all day.

What EISP? They will just wait it out. 2023 is almost here. Better rack up that OT and pay off the boat.

The 2% cut in salary might be worth it to some. To others it isn't. I just wish they'd given each of us a choice.

What chickens? Are they giving management chickens now, as well as Xtra vacation? I did just get a letter telling me it's a good time to take the lump sum. They forgot to add on the incentive package though, so I guess it's another 45 months.

Wrong. Union people brag about their entitlements and have been shaming at will employees on here for years. The chickens will come home to roost for them soon though.
