ATT is prepping to sell off major non first net infrastructure including its residential copper and fiber footprint. They have sevetal interested companies small and big looking to buy chunks of its business.

Copper pairs belong in the metal bin. Nobody is dumb enough to buy that. The only thing you can reuse is the facilities to place fiber.

Correct, but internet only installs can also be handled by what was TFS. Installation time will be dramatically cut. Eventually the pricing will entice customers to drop the traditional Uverse service. The customers already have internet so they will ship back all the STB’s.
Also the ATT tv platform will work with any internet provider including the new 5G nodes that are being placed in every metro area.
5G hotspot will also begin being shipped in 2020. The hotspot converts 5G to WiFi. And we sure have been busy WiFi mapping and selling airties.
I think Uverse was always meant to be an interim product while fiber to the home was built out.
Only so much bandwidth you can squeeze out of the old copper plant and twisted pair. And we know AT&T just puts band aids on that infrastructure. It will be around for some time to come, but I don't think there is too much expectations in new adds for the service. AT&T will put it in maintenance mode while they milk the cow to the last drop. The issue is when customer service is cut to these Uverse customers and AT&T expects to convert them to satellite, fiber or 5g.
When you say u-verse is done , you are referring only to the tv portion. U-verse internet , re-branded att internet , is not done. They still deploy VDSL where fiber is not available.

Uverse is definitely done. The platform will be shut down. When your organization isn’t mentioned in future plans and the SVP can’t even remember how long we have had the technology it’s a bad sign. The Uverse organization has the highest head count so look for the most “cost savings “ to come from there.

Humm, no too accurate. At&t announced last month the sale of ALL of its assets in the Puerto Rico and USVI markets. Included in the pending deal is the wireless network aka Mobility, that houses the FirstNet infrastructure, just like here in the contiguous states. So I recommend you don’t rest on FirstNet!!
