Thread regarding AT&T layoffs

We’re not even aware of how many people got laid off from AT&T this year

I would really love to see the employee numbers for AT&T, compared to the numerals from the same time last year ( the real ones, not the ones presented in the media). Think that we would all be shocked to see how many people lost their job at AT&T, in one way or the other. Given that we are such a big company, with locations laid out at different parts of the country, I think that most of us aren't aware of how much people are losing their jobs on a daily basis.

We get the employee count every quarter.

Do a find on employees. 251,840

What we don't see is the number of contractors. There has been this outsourcing to IBM and others. Without the contractor numbers, we can't get any idea whether they are doing things more efficiently or not.

From the quarterly reports they are only down about 5000 from 1 year ago.

Yep , they don’t count those that are re-badged as surplused so right there the numbers are skewed.
