att is in the business of getting-rid of people now, not hiring. ATT became bloated during the dot.com era. mgmt was never given the opportunity to get rid of individuals. if you canned someone, then you couldn't back-fill. if you canned someone, then you didn't need them in the first place. If you got rid of someone, then mgmt lost headcount. there was NO reason for anyone to get fired. i saw about 6 people canned at att over 23yrs. 4 of them committed felonies, the others just blatantly didn't work. there are way too many R.I.P.s at att (retiring in place). i would guess those folks are not ashamed to admit to it. heck, i had one guy tell me, he joined att, so he could retire. he bridged some Bell work he had back in the day...worked for ATT for a year, then retired. this is how dumb this company is...
