I heard today that the company did not get enough volunteers for their generous MVO (You are now looking at my shocked face). So, job cuts are coming to ATT Business. For those who are in ATT Business, stay tuned.

If you missed the pattern in Tech Dev it was six months between the MVO and Involuntary surplus. It was a year between the MVO and selling the group entirely to IBM.
The company will meet its numbers, one way or another. It's really all we know how to do.
Never.... volunteer to take MVO. You want my a– gone, make they work for it and pay you!!!
There are never enough volunteers for any MVO, mainly because the company refuses to make an offer that makes sense to anyone besides folks that were already retiring anyway.

I know many who have left over the last 3 years that are doing just fine. I'm still here, but I am active on LinkedIn and elsewhere; there are plenty of jobs out there. This is no political statement or anything, just fact.

It depends on where you are. A year ago we lost two people on my team. One found a contract to perm job right away and never touched his severance. Two years ago another person on my team was let go too. He too found a contract to perm right away.
