Looks like this has been announced officially. What is next ?

Customer Service centers and technical positions have been moving to India for decades now. Not a data center, just the end of the phone lines to new people filling the positions in a different country.

Called your bank lately?

Same thing with tech workers... they bulk of them have never seen the data center and are not even in the same country. No need for all but a few to be there.

Hey -ngx, Data centers do not need a lot of staff. The engineers and app support people can work from anywhere on Earth.

The onsite datacenter folks are usually there for hardware support and installation.

You can run a massive datacenter with a handful of people and have all the engineers in India.

In fact, Wells has hundreds if not more people in India doing IT work now.

And I work with dozens of other people who all work from home, and I see them online nights and weekends, but I don't see you.

People should only post what they know and not what they assume or want to believe. We're here to help each other not call names.

And more to come. Especially for telecommuters. WF employees get on 'Fast Track' in which the object of their game is to secure a Full-Time telecommuting position in a non-definable job such as Support Consultant. These are NOT IT jobs, and the only requirement is that you know the name of the 'system' that you support.

Once they score this position, the candidate disappears from the workplace, drawing 80,000-120,000 USD / yr. for a job in which the main physical requirement is attending a weekly meeting.

The only time one ever sees these ghosts in when their company-supplied equipment goes bad, or is scheduled to be replaced.

I read another comment in which the short-term goal is a 10% reduction in staff. I would say a near-immediate reduction of 25% of staff could be executed without any impact to productivity or customer service... as these metrics are already at zero %.

@11BPszKi-ayk - my friend you are a joker. How can you move data centers to India? Also, WF is a US-centric bank with 6000 branches. These branches cannot be moved abroad. The IT division is already over staffed. Those are the only jobs that could be moved but these jobs have to be shed , not moved.

This is so sad. These jobs will go to India and the Philippines, of course.

Not the first to be cut, Shoreview, MN was announced earlier.

Bay area is expensive and first to get cut.
