OPT jobs going away?

In Northern California, this term position went away end of July 2019 because the fiber build requirement from the DirecTV purchase was completed. There were a couple of OPT term job reqs for Southern California recently, but no longer listed.

Anyone know about the rumor that when the new CWA West Contract in April 2020 comes up for renegotiation that prem techs will take over OPT functions and paid at Wage Schedule 11 that OPTs were on?

“ Won’t matter when the wireline side of the house is spun off into a new subsidiary. We will all be reapplying for our jobs at new wages and benefits.”

Yeah that’d go well. 😂

Prem slaves won't be doing heavy construction, that will be outsourced to low cost contractors.

Here in D3 SE we just signed a 5yr contract. No change in scope of work for Prem techs or OPT
