Union is gonna get peanuts for future work . Don’t have to be an Einstein to figure out VZ doesn’t want union anymore .
@2jfo Union droolers? Seriously? I get that you’re a troll, but I’ll treat you like a child instead, and educate you. Are you familiar with contract language? The concept of a contract? Each new contract we’ve agreed to, with the company, clearly stated we’d have the right (per said negotiation) to all new work, and opportunity in all new technology. We’re not droolers to hold the company liable to their end of the bargain. But.. it would appear that someone is dropping the ball, and letting the company jump through loopholes.
So have fun shooting spitballs. But call it what it is.
crown castle does our antennas and Asurion will be doing the home install of 5G if you need a booster antenna installed outside your home [look it up on 5G home FAQ]. i'm a cxm splicer in manhattan and we still run and splice the backbone,,but seeing more and more crown castle fiber in the holes. also was told by sources that the unionized wireless shops will not be permitted to sell 5G to customers ..they want this strictly done without any union forces. only a matter of time before i stop splicing 5g and its handed off to CC. ive been in same shop 29 years . ill take whatever more time i can get but a package will send me packing. just talking to new management is painful and morale is really bad.
This is the network you union droolers thought could never be built without you. If you are in the franchise, good luck with retirement.
The wireless techs that handle cell sites and MTSO's in the 5 boroughs, Westchester, Rockland, Putnam and all of Long Island are unionized. They have been since NYNEX Mobile. They are represented by CWA 1101. There are about 90 of them in NY Metro

Wrong. Some of the retail stores have been organized, but thats it.
Crown castle sbac communication and another company are putting up the majority of the 5g antennas for vz,att,t- moblie etc etc..none of that work will be done by vz or at etc.vz will run the fiber backbone if needed so if 5g works out well for Verizon, there will be a tremendous surplus of techs .5g customer equipment will be just mailed out to them,so work all the ot you can and try to save some money if you can cause there will be very little work for you guys.its not going be overnight,may take years,but it will happen

There is no union contract pertaining to wireless service. 5G is a wireless service.
Um...pretty sure that Wireless is Unionized in NYC.
As we were told a while back , “ we are the preferred workers to put in 5G , but they don’t gotta use us “ !
Writing on the wall, 5G home will be here before we know it. It’s all contracted out. If you can leave by 2023 run for the hills.
