Thread regarding AT&T layoffs

DTV Buy High Sell Low

All within 5 years. But no one saw Cord Cutting coming so it can't be Executives Fault. That's sarcasm for the Chief of Staff who follows this board.
Watch over the next 10 years as the pieces of TWX chopped up are sold off and flourish under new owners while those under ATT flounder.

It's true, Stephenson has been a disaster for shareholders and employees. His neglect of the AT&T network in favor of his focus on entertainment has ruined AT&T. Instead of expanding, enhancing and growing the most robust wireline and wireless network in the world he has squandered billions of dollars on the T Mobile debacle, Direct TV and now Time Warner acquisitions. Not recognizing that AT&T is first and foremost a network connectivity company he has moved the Company away from its core competency and into realms about which no one inside AT&T knows anything. Donovan probably quit because he recognized this. Stephens and Stankey are doubling down on Stephenson's bets. Elliot Management has spoken and everyone now knows what employees have known for years. Rot has set into AT&T's leadership. What a sad story for an iconic American company. I retired just in time.

Randy and the two John’s thought you could buy DTV and Time Warner Studios then wake up the next day as Steve Jobs reincarnate

All they really did was neglect the biggest revenue segments at AT&T, wireless and business wireline

The only way to pay off debt with shrinking subscribers is to sell segments of the business off. I’m betting that DirecTV is the first to go followed by parceled off pieces of Time Warner until we are out from under this mountain of debt.

Make no mistake, Randy will be pushed out in 2020 and the board will be pressured to bring in new blood to correct course as opposed to the heir apparent John Stanky.

By the time the dust settles AT&T could easily lose 20 million subscribers and reduce its workforce to well below 100K

There is an old saying, “your first loss is your cheapest”

At this point I think the sooner we unload DTV the better regardless of how much money is initially lost. Every quarter we wait you’ll see millions of subscribers lost until eventually this segment of the company has no value at all.

AT&T needs to focus on wireless and business wireline revenue and forget about this Media/TV pipe dream.
