If I'm still employed, and I decide to go ahead and dump all AT&T services under my employe discounts, getting prepared to be surplus'd/outsourced/MVO, so I'm not hit with a giant set of bills when I do go..., is there any rumor/knowledge about HR knowing this, and it puts your name at the top of the hit list? Heck, I'm actually looking now not just for preparations, but because other competitor services appear cheaper and better these days.

When I'm out working in BFE or on a trouble in the middle of the night, I appreciate the great service I get from VZW...T ain't even close.

ATT fiber network is a butchered mess in the Midwest. Remember project PRONTO? There first attempt at accelerating the fiber build. Let anybody and there brother with a pair of snips loose on the network .... with the greenest management. Every short cut trick in the book was used! Continued to get worse with the VRAD build.....once again turn anybody loose with a fiber lab loose after a week of training. You can’t help but break something going into the splices without breaking something. Once again terrible management decisions. Next year I’m finally retiring .....this place is a disaster.
At&t fiber is pretty awesome. It is a shame that the build is over. Wish we would have actually built a first class network instead of this media company c-ap.
When canceling keep in mind that AT&T charges a month in advance for some services and in most states has stopped issuing prorated refunds when that service is canceled. For the phone service those items included in the employee package (call waiting, forwarding, blocking etc) will be individually charged in the billing cycle when the employee discount is removed.
Go ahead and get the best deal you can as long as you have good coverage in your area. I have not looked for better deals until last week. I thought no way can I do better than a 50% discount. I was wrong. For my number of lines and usage I will be almost cutting my bill in half most months. Other months if I go over my usage I still will be saving even paying for the extra gigs of data. Everyone should look at your usage and do the math. I am sure a lot of employees can have saving over their discount.
Power to the consumer. No one should be strong armed into service due to employment alone. Note: when I left the Company, my phone bill jumped x3. Took 3 months to get straightened out.
Switched to TMobile. They have great discount on unlimited for over 55 for me and my wife at what I was paying for just me when worked at AT&T. Happy with it. Moved to Suddenlink 200 MB from AT&T 24 MB copper for less money too. Finally got rid of DirecTV and went with YouTube Live streaming. Each one saved me quite a bit of money and works fine.
Everyone should have an exit strategy worked out and prepared. I would ride those discounts all the way to the end. Cancel the day after you are off the payroll, unless you find better deal outside the discounts.
How is the quality of service for Verizon in the DFW/Greater DFW area?
Veteran discount at T-Mobile is better than the employee discount. Quality is not so good, but had to cut back on bills.
None of their business how you spend money you earned. Get the best bang for your buck. Pretty sad employees get better deals outside of their discounts.
I actually have started to do the same thing. I cannot believe how much I am going to save on cellular service.
I did it several years ago and no repercussions. It's your money and there is better pricing and products available.
