Thread regarding AT&T layoffs

Honesty and truth is rewarded with retribution and retaliation

Perspective and opinion from the lowest position of Management, what upper management says or directs to the masses is completely different than what middle management is directed to do by the same people. Honesty and truth is rewarded with retribution and retaliation. Threats to employment security is the sword swung. Middle management does this out of fear of losing their jobs. Not a pretty situation. Most lower management will stay silent for fear of becoming a target when quarterly ranking is done of all management personnel under a general manager. AT&T grows sheep and lemmings and exterminates all that don’t drink the koolAid.

This couldn’t be any more true. Good post @116bZjRL-skq

Lower your shields and surrender your ships....we will add your biological and technological distinctiveness to our own. Your culture will adapt to service us.....resistance is futile

This company is soul crushing to anyone who is innovative, excited to serve customers, driven to do the right thing. Morale is so low. You are not going to Empower me to do more. You are not going to get me to buy a branded VEST. I don’t know from quarter to quarter if Im even going to have a job.

Yes. 100% Retired. Still young but the last 22yrs took all the steam out of me. I left with 2 pensions and did ok. I feel I am one of the lucky ones and feel blessed. I wish everyone could go out on their terms but the Company has different ideas. It’s a changing world and Employees are not part of it sad to say.

@-izc, are you now 100% retired? If so, that's great.

Thank you from the Author. The sad part is, it’s true. After nearly 40yrs in the various identities of the Telephone Company I had the motivation, pride, energy and enthusiasm beaten out of me through the years. I became a shell of myself wishing to be left alone to do my work and not be assaulted by the unrealistic directives passed down the chain of command. With the occasional verbal directive to disregard existing rules and protocols just to meet or beat a due date. In the end I was relieved my number was pulled in the initial bloodbath of downsizing in January. I took the early out of February 18th because I knew trying to find a job inside AT&T using Career Path was a waste of time. I left the Company, canceled any services with AT&T, threw out ALL my logo apparel and have been stress free ever since. I wish all remaining on payroll the best. It’s unbelievable that such a great company to work for is crumbling due to lack of vision and pure corporate greed at the expense of a very dedicated and knowledgeable employee base. This includes all the Craft and 1st level management. I’d rather be gone than deal with the ever changing wreckage of a once great company. Peace to all.
