Thread regarding AT&T layoffs

Years ago when Verizon Wireless was

Kicking our tails and dominating I attended a task force strategy meeting. I asked what are they doing that we are not doing and has anyone thought of having 50-100 employees use Verizon service for a period of time and go through the motions. What I implied was what they are doing is working and what we are doing is not working and we have to find out to what degree and in what areas. That was my line of thought versus doing more promos, marketing, driving retail traffic, more of the same but more aggressive. I was looked at as if I has lobsters crawling out of my ears. My line of thought was find out what the leader by far is actually doing in the marketplace and how they handle customers. Blasphemy on my part.

1keu....more like spoken from a SSIM tech who I&M's service to the base of the cell towers for all carriers and can tell you that VZW has T beat about 4 to 1 on towers(for about 1/2 of the state I work/ have worked in) and also carries around a T phone in 1 pocket and a VZW phone in the other and can see the difference.

WTH do you mean "years ago"? VZW is still kicking T's tail up one side and down the other. How do they do it you might ask? MORE F'IN TOWERS!! Complicated I know, the industry leader charges more for better network coverage and offers at least equal or better customer service. Mind boggling I know, to think that folks will pay more for something that actually works.

Verizon didn't go with Bell Atlantic or GTE. AT&T Wireless still carries the AT&T name. AT&T name carries a far different meaning with consumers today than our Executives think it does. Stodgy, No Customer Service, Rip Off, Monopoly, Government, Beaurocratic, Slow.

Industry leaders blaze new trails in creating powerful brands that customers want to own and in offering outstanding service that customers want to purchase. The greatest industry leaders are respected by their competition and loved by their customers (ie Apple, Tesla). Second rate companies follow in the footsteps of the winners and copy what they are doing to achieve their own measure of success.

And then we have The AT&T Corporation. Which is too damm stupid and caught up in their own collective group think to even play copycat, let alone ever create anything of value.

interesting. Although, I am pretty sure that the RAN teams in most every market have mobile devices from the competition to use in comparison tests. For at least 5 years as I recall

The biggest problem, is spending all your time on what the competition is doing instead of what you are doing. Do what you do best, and the rest will take care of itself. Slow but determined. Just ask all the fast food chains chasing Chick-fi-La. really a chicken sandwich with donuts?

The competition still believes in customer service and their network. Imagine that. The new AT&T in their arrogance puts their efforts into out of date monopolistic process minutia and micromanagement while still riding the coattails of the old AT&T reputation. That ride is quickly ending as a lot of customers don’t care about yesterday.

The plan used to be “be tops in customer service and network”. Now it’s provide just enough to get by cuz, after all, who doesn’t want bragging rights of having T service, Ma Bell, the Big Dog! They didn’t realize people would see right thru the bs and bail!

I learned the hard way a long time ago, to never share a thought, idea or anything that I thought was good, even when asked, including in those surveys where they know who said what when. When I did, it came right back to me pronto, and made for a serious CLM. It's what helps foster the yes man, same ole BS, stay off the radar environment, of which has lead to T-Mo and Verizon and even Sprint to a degree to eat our collective lunches.
