@vmg The deal gives up to 50% ownership to Abrams/Bad Robot. It's not standard industry practice. Disney and Apple wouldn't do it and no one else would either. Bloomberg called it a "rookie move" and that's exactly what it is.

Questioning authority in a constructive manner for the betterment of AT&T is highly frowned upon and detrimental to your career. Therefore the same train of thought is never derailed and end up with a mountain of debt, customer defections, and Gordon Gecko calling you id–ts to the street.

The problem that hasn't been said is the bench is mostly empty and void of depth. Most of the people that are in senior management positions have been with the company forever. And those that are in upper middle management are former chiefs of staff to those people. There is no diversity of thought or experience. Those that disagree or challenge the status quo are shunned for promotions or leave the company in frustration or are shown the door via relocation or get paid to leave. Well run companies have common goals but give their executives and managers the resources and autonomy to achieve those goals. If they don't get the job done, they are gone and new blood is brought in. Does that happen at ATT?

The board needs Stankey to hang on until Martin Shkreli gets out of jail in 2025.

Stephenson said Tuesday that Stankey was in a "pretty good position" to take over as his heir apparent if he executes on WarnerMedia.

“Just ok, is not ok”

Wouldn't trust him either - can't distinguish the runway that runs from his forehead to his nape.
