Some people may think that with all the outsourcing and forced reduction that the company is getting rid of the dead wood as they say. But it's not ture, I have seen so many dedicated, hard working, intelligent people let go. People who are dedicated employees, and are subject matter experts in key roles. While some of the inept sycophants and nepotist got retained. At the end of the day it will come down to where your attid is on a spreadsheet in a targeted org and let go or if you are politically connected so you can be picked to be saved.
You can be let go at any time, it don't matter if you:
Skill pivoted to 2020 by taking the new training for the new roles
Got a nanodegree
Got current and relevant certifications
Received various awards and accolades over the years
Went above and beyond, worked long hours and weekends
Swiped you badge at a collaboration zone 5 or more days a week for more than 8 hours a day
Got exceptional ratings or you met all the expectations.
Perform volunteer/ERG work for AT&T
Were innovative, participated in TIPS, Proof of Concepts, Patents, produced ideas that saved money, etc...
At the end of the day just put in a normal work week and then go spend time with your family and friends, because they do matter.
