Thread regarding AT&T layoffs

Remember... What you do DON'Tmatter!

Some people may think that with all the outsourcing and forced reduction that the company is getting rid of the dead wood as they say. But it's not ture, I have seen so many dedicated, hard working, intelligent people let go. People who are dedicated employees, and are subject matter experts in key roles. While some of the inept sycophants and nepotist got retained. At the end of the day it will come down to where your attid is on a spreadsheet in a targeted org and let go or if you are politically connected so you can be picked to be saved.

You can be let go at any time, it don't matter if you:

Skill pivoted to 2020 by taking the new training for the new roles
Got a nanodegree
Got current and relevant certifications
Received various awards and accolades over the years
Went above and beyond, worked long hours and weekends
Swiped you badge at a collaboration zone 5 or more days a week for more than 8 hours a day
Got exceptional ratings or you met all the expectations.
Perform volunteer/ERG work for AT&T
Were innovative, participated in TIPS, Proof of Concepts, Patents, produced ideas that saved money, etc...

At the end of the day just put in a normal work week and then go spend time with your family and friends, because they do matter.

I am one of these people. I received the highest rating of my career–Exceptional impact, which requires AVP approval–I completed a nanodegree, and I received two SAFe certifications. Thought this might finally be the year I got promoted. Wrong! I got outsourced to IBM instead, while the dead wood continue to collect a paycheck and reap all the other benefits.

Friends, there is absolutely no payoff for your hard work. Take care of yourself and get the hell out if you get a better offer.

Hard pill to swallow, you want to “believe” but it’s all b—s— unless you are a 3rd level or above. Carpenter must have negotiated a sweet deal for himself.

Yep, I did a bunch of those things of your list. I received stellar A&D reviews and in the end my boss pulled my name solely because of the state I lived in. Not just a middle finger to me, but also a great leadership message for everyone who remained.

unfortunately true. the company sold the employees are bag of goods. i never thought the whole 2020 workforce realignment was true, but i didnt see leadership outsouring all of ATO either. they had a plan. ATO workers are not part of that plan. and for that matter this statement goes for of the wireline and wireless employees -there will only be handful of people when its over. budgets are the key, no new work = no need for resources

Good post, thanks.

Now waiting for Randy’s lapdogs to chime in about how uneducated you are and your skill sets isn’t adequate for today’s T.
