Vendors are so removed from the Customer and their goal is only to make money....Regardless of knowledge base they will off shore jobs if it will save them money.....This has been going on for years and the T has put up with it....Off shore folks days end before 11:00CST and endless holiday's......The contracts with vendors really need to be re-worked to AT&T's advantage as from what we have seen for years is the only true winner long-term has been the vendor, not T.

@111xAHfB-aic Problem with your comments is you complain that you think what the company is doing is wrong, then you justify your personal action with, you are not a sh- starter and are flexible. Well, if you think things are wrong maybe you should have been starting sh- about it. You sit on your hands and collect a paycheck, then complain after the fact. There's no reason to complain after it's all done, just move on. Yes, you are the reason if you did nothing and decided to carry on and make things work perfect to support the leadership you think is going in the wrong direction. Leadership steers the ship into an iceberg, you say you know it, but yet continue to shovel coal into the furnaces.

You DO matter! But don't waste your talent or life slaving for a company that refuses to realize that.

@-aic, whoever you are, you're 110% awesome. What you said is perfect, spot on, and needed saying as it's absolutely correct, and the purest of truth.

For my 20+ years of giving 110%, within the last 2 years, I've come down with a couple of serious health issues, all brought on directly due to horrendous stress. Caused by my giving a damn about my company, job and customers. I was treated like complete utter $h!t by the top brass all the way down to the L3's, and allowed, even encouraged to work myself to the bone and beyond, and damage my health as a result. All they did was stand around and b–ch and complain and act like I wasn't giving enough, yet, they never gave of themselves to such a degree.

I'm quite certain, there are several others out here on this board, that have suffered the same, or know of many others how have suffered various health complications that were caused by ultimately the bad management and terrible managers of this company. Please speak up if you're out there.

backbone - I also don't see it as a surrender; I see it as self preservation. Unfortunately, what I'm running into is that my twenty years (as an employee - more as a contractor) has stuck me with the legacy technological debt that AT&T has built up. I've been interviewing off-and-on for the past year and find it's easy to get the interview, but difficult to pass the interview. I'm asked questions about solving problems using technologies I haven't been exposed to.

After twenty years, I have a lot of catching up to do, and it's proving to be a challenge as fast as technology is moving.

I don’t see leaving as surrendering. I see leaving sharing my skills and talents for more money, better benefits, better attitudes from coworkers, doing work instead of politics, not have to worry to keep in contact with old managers because of constant surpluses, I guess basically keeping sanity and focus on improving my skills while doing real work.

I think RS and team just found out how much they matter with a letter of referendum on their performance for the past 12 years.

Spot on! In 5 years they will realize that it was a short term gain for long term pain. You see how difficult it is to work with multiple vendors today whose systems are dependent on each other. Now they are adding another vendor whose motive is to make money not solve problems or serve T shareholders and customers.

I usually skip past long posts, but I read yours and thanks for writing it. And you’re right, it was therapy just reading it as it was for you to write it!

I will say this, you have over twenty years behind you, many managers in the review, but still with T and I’m betting many of them remember you as a good, hard worker. Pull out that book of contacts, start some conversations with them, get leads and their advice keeping in touch as circumstances change.

I was surplussed a few years back but resorted to my old bosses to get back in...it can happen. Good luck

Thanks much appreciated. Pretty much feel like I am a worthless pile of sh*t. I have yet to comment on this site. 20 years working my a– off and giving 110%. Never stirred up sh–, always complied. All the BS training you were forced to take, all the 2020 pivot BS just to watch those 2020 orgs be created then handed off to another company. Made to feel that my meager salary is the problem. While execs who make horrible choices and lead failed mergers continue to make lots of money. Watching the various solutions that were created to serve our customers die on the vine because of a lack of funding.

Those who say, just leave. Let me tell you why it's tough. After you have worked so very hard for 20+ years giving 110% to the company. To just pick up and leave feels like surrendering. I honestly just cannot understand how the board of directors can continue to pay these people who are running the company the kinds of money they are making. Making Millions a year plus all the perks they get like a driver, use of a private plane, and a very large allowance for home data, security etc. And they ruin a company and continue to get giant bonuses. I know this sounds like sour grapes. It really isn't. I say if you can fool the board and get paid, fine. But it is just a hard pill to swallow.

And my job, with my middle of the road salary is the problem. That's why we need to take you, the person who spent his 20 years of his life at a company and discard you like trash to a third party company.

I am OK with it now. This has been therapy for me, to finally make a comment. I know I am a hard worker! I am flexible, a team player! I spend part of my free time thinking about issues at work and how to fix them. I research, I learn. I am not a sh– starter, I do not spread rumors. I am not the squeaky wheel. I do not talk sh– about others. And I am loyal.

If I am called to a call and told I have been selected then so be it. It will be AT&T that will be missing out. You will be losing a very qualified employee. One that kept many systems running while you cut everyone around me. While you withheld funding for years, I kept the systems up. There are others like me. Others in areas that keep the systems up for our customers. Customers who WE CARE about. We understand Customers are the reason we get paychecks, even if you have forgotten.

If you have taken the time to read my rant, thank you. To our customers, thank you and I am sorry that AT&T has forgotten about how important you are. To my fellow employees, keep your chin up. You do matter. You are not sht. You are not worthless. You are not the reason this company has gone to sht. Please don't forget to by a vest. lol

A good employee (for now)
