Thread regarding AT&T layoffs

Unlocking the phones can be done online. However I know that some AT&T iPhones like the 7 will not work on Vz network.

As an employee of AT&T, I have used T-Mobile wireless service for 8 years and am grandfathered into a unlimited plan. The coverage has improved over those 8 years and customer service is far superior to AT&T as is price even with our employee discount. I switched when this furry face CFO Stephens kept threatening to take away employee discounts if we didn't stop using credit cards for paying our bill. My coverage at home with AT&T s—ed as well so I switched and saved big time

• also, before you go and sell your phones, check with Comcast. T is legally required to unlock phones that are not under contract, and most phones made in the last 4-5 (or more) years are now compatible with all of the networks. When I got married three years ago I was able to move my wife and step-daughter into my EMO plan. They had Verizon on older iPhones. We just had to put in at&t SIM cards.

As much as I loathe Comcast, I can’t really begrudge you when they’re the only game in town. I like to say I’d go back to dialup AOL before I’d give Comcast another dime, but we all know that’s a lie :)

Funny thing about our employee discount. Before the EMO plan changed a few years ago, a lot of my peers were on T-Mobile because their retail price was lower than our employee discount. Can you imagine the nightmare PR AT&T would’ve received had that news gone out?

I’m guessing that’s the only reason our EMO plan morphed into the 50%-off plan we have now, even though my friends who work for T-Mobile get (or used to get) completely free service.

I just did the math, Comcast is the only choice I have where I live for high speed internet. So I looked at their mobile plans for internet customers. For my usage and the number of lines I have it will cost me pre taxes and fees $30 vs $57.50 with the employee discount. How crazy is that? I never bothered to shop around because I thought i got the best deal with a 50% discount. They use Vz network so not worried about coverage in my area. I can't use my at&t phones on their network since they not compatible with the network, but i can sell my old phones to them in addition to getting a $250 gift card. Not a bad deal.

Spectrum offers MUCH FASTER internet at the SAME price as my slow AT&T 'high speed internet' even WITH THE EMPLOYEE DISCOUNT!!! As soon as I get the chance I'm switching over, and I haven't even quit my job/been surplussed from here yet!

In internet, video and cell service Randall's AT&T is COMPLETELY non competitive. How he can justify his $29,000,000.00 yearly income is a mystery to me.

Metro service is really good for the price.
They also give you free iPhone 6s if you switch.

This is great feedback here, as though I "think" I'm still employed and not informed of a outsource or surplus, or even an mvo, but I'm now at a point where me and the family, 4 lines, all need to upgrade phones and contract. And I fear I'm making a mistake to due it with AT&T even with the employee discount. I may need to go with Verizon to get the iPhones, good/better coverage in and out of Metros, and get it cheap. My concern is to go NEXT again, and then get shafted with outsource/surplus, I'm serious stuck with a very high bill.

Yeah Red Pocket is a good MVNO. You can choose between any carrier depending on what phone you already have.

Don't forget Red Pocket, you can switch between any of the 4 major networks just by asking for a different SIM card. Google Fi isn't bad either.

Regarding Xfinity mobile - Comcast/Xfinity is THE worst company I have ever had the displeasure of doing business with. I get that every company can make a mistake from time-to-time, but Comcast regularly lied to me, refused to honor agreed to prices, added services I did not ask for (on three separate occasions on two different accounts), and ultimately refused to provide me with any written contracts after I had been screwed over on multiple occasions (undoubtedly so they could continue to not honor agreed to prices). Their bundles are devised to extract the maximum amount of money from you, no matter what. The final straw was when I tried to cancel my unused home phone and I was told that my bill would actually go up by $20 and my Internet speed would be cut in half. Okay then, I have my own cable modem so I'll at least return their rented modem to save $10/month. Nope - because I had that home phone, it was required that I have "compatible equipment" even though I wasn't using the home phone.

We dropped Comcast last year. Thankfully our local telco offers fiber gigabit Internet - $75/month for life with no data caps. No more home phone, and even with having to switch away from $10 DTV Now to something more expensive, our bill will still be half what we paid to Comcast for better service.

The point is, they may have a good deal on mobile service, but I will NEVER ever ever ever give that horrible company another dime. They should have been fined out of existence by the FCC long ago.

I moved away from ATT when xfinity had a great offer. My bill is MUCH cheaper than ATT even with employee discount. Verizon is provider. Coverage is better. Not going to pay more when this company might kick me to the curb any given quarter when they surplus.

Metro and Boost use T-Mobile and Sprint networks. The both have horrible coverage outside of metro areas.

Tmoblie has some great deals too. Been with them for a year now and pay less than employee discount. The best part is the bill is always the same. At&t can't match it.

I have the same svc, unlimited everything, 2 lines and pay less than I did with employee discount. Cut away uverse and hsia a year and a half ago and went with spectrum 100 hsia and now stream everything. Also have digital antenna and can honestly say not missing a thing. Never again will I ever give at&t anything and it feels exceptionally good.
