Thread regarding AT&T layoffs

Maybe those who are outsourced are better off?

Seriously, how much worse can it get compared to this place?

Were the employees outsourced to IBM and Tech M both re-badged?

The Accenture deal does NOT re-badge AT&T employees to Accenture

The ones who got sold out to the IBM deal definitely got a raw deal. The Tech M deal is leaps and bounds better for the impacted employees in all respects from pay, benefits, as well as no hard lined cut off date. Of course time will tell many things, but you gotta feel for those who were sold out to IBM.

The IBM offer letter defined it as an employee with a predefined termination date of 12/31/2020.

Some will be offered roles with no predefined date after IBM makes their initial employee assessments due to being deemed critical to the success of the contract.

Everyone else will know around September of next year if they will be extended or need to find something else.

End date as in I year they will be surplused? I know a lot of employees are banking on IBM extending there contracts especially on the infrastructure side of the house.

Hey 1ilb, which company are you hired under that your pension will be worth 850k at MR75? I have 30 yrs at BST and don’t have half that. Sounds like the SE is getting the short end.

If I get outsourced now, my pension value after 21 years is about $150k. If I can finish 6 more years, it’s $850k. So, about 700k dollar loss for me if I am not able to stay for 6 more.

My team was being split in 2016 - some to IBM, some to stay put at AT&T.
I was verbally told I was not being off-loaded. There was no reason to trust that.
Didn't want to mess with with mess either way.
I jumped on the severance when it it was offered shortly thereafter.

If you feel that way, why not leave?

Ask those that went to IBM and had their welcome meeting earlier this week. They were referred to as employees with and end date. I dont know about you, but I prefer to take my chances with ATT.
