Thread regarding AT&T layoffs

AT&T Going to lose another million customers next quarter

https://www.cordcuttersnews.com/att-expects-to-lose-over-1-million-tv-subscribers-more-have-blackouts-in-the-3rd-quarter-of-2019/

But Randy says its ok !!

  1. AT&T TV streaming service (DirectTV replacement) going to k–l it and magically get our customers back .

Even though its more expensive and has less channels .. oh and DOESN'T have NFL Sunday ticket or alot of your LOCAL channels. Really ?

  1. We'll sell more fiber.

BS all we're doing is converting our preexisting copper customers to fiber and sayin "Look at all these new fiber customers!"

  1. " higher-quality video and broadband customer base with lower churn and higher ARPU ".

Average revenue per user (ARPU) - Oh .. we're going to raise prices to the customers we have left ... sounds legit

  1. Continued cost management - more layoffs and surplusses

SERIOUSLY .. this is who is running the company ...

This is troubling, but it has had a low z score before.

IMO it is beyond just the cord cutters. I know people who dropped dtv and went to comcast and spectrum. So randy can blame cord cutters all he wants I am not buying it.

Let’s not for inept, unintelligent, unfit for duty as a CEO, and not recommended for further service as a leader.

I will respectfully disagree with #2

" 2) keep warner and spend on content "

The content market is highly competitive and already full of experienced players who:

a) Know what they're doing
b) Aren't in debt up to their eyeballs
c) Can dedicate massive budgets towards content

Other than wireless ( where we are ranked at #3 ), AT&T has little experience operating in a competitive environment. They have always enjoyed Monopoly or Near-Monopoly status in their operating areas.

If AT&T is going to operate in these environments, they'll have to ditch the old Monopoly " We can charge whatever we want " mindset first.

IMO, AT&T needs to ditch all but their ISP, Backbone and Wireless offerings. Cut their losses and focus on building out the network to support the ever increasing demands for bandwidth that will be placed upon it. ( 5G Data, 8K video, etc. )

att's biggest risk is interest rate. when I heard they plan to buy back stock instead of paying down debt i finally realized despite the misteps that this company is run by mo–ns. those missteps as bad as they seem now could have been great and did look good at the time. NO one predicted how popular streaming would become.

I agree to a certain extent with many others. What does all streaming companies need to be successful? a path between them and the customers.

ATT should:

1) get rid of direct TV, video is a commodity
2) keep warner and spend on content
3) build out 5g and the terrestrial pipes to the customers.

You are welcome ATT

"Yeah, it’s all good from ‘leadership’ perspective - more “Low value customers” leaving, as they would say. In other words, It’s not me, it’s you. "

The fake band Spinal Tap explained a shrinking fan base as the audience becoming "more selective". ;^)

One does wonder why all these bad customers spent years using DTV prior to the merger.

Who’s running the company ? A complete utter id–t that has no competence, lack of foresight, that continually neglects our existing network, and ruins acquisitions. His name is Randall!
