Thread regarding AT&T layoffs

If you hate coming to work, then quit!

There is an obvious solution to your problems, why in the world would you stay when you have options?

I really don't understand people sometime...

Imagine if you had 25+ years and are just trying to reach 30 so you can finally retire. Would you throw it away at age 45+ when the world has a very obvious bias against hiring anyone at that age ?

You sir, are the problem! You forget the part about having a marketable skill set. You even admit to staying here, only to retire. I sure hope you get the boot....along w/the 10s of thousands, just like you. Wake-up and join the real world. The one where you actually have to work for your salary. The one where your management, actually manages, keeps tabs on you, and requires you to perform.

You guys absolutely k–l me. You are part of the reason this company is hurting so bad

I have to say, I don't understand people either. I see up-voted:
For the younger folks at AT&T, GET OUT! Jump SHiP NOW!
And then I see down-voted:
If you hate coming to work, then quit!

Don't they say the same thing - leave?

I had gotten to the point once in my career where I hated work, the people, the boss. I’d come home and complain to the wife. One day after a 5 minute tirade about the same stuff, she said “just quit then.” I was like “what!?!” She said “if you hate it that much and that unhappy, quit.” I replied “what are you crazy? Where am I gonna find a job that will pay me like this.” She says “well then, shut up and quit complaining.” She was right. Take control of your ego and situation. You only control you.

Obviously because other people aren't as smart as you, OP. They're just too dumb or lazy to think of such a basic answer to a complicated question. Just uproot your life in response to unfortunate changes in your employment, people! The greatest philosophy in life, when the going gets tough just give up and cross your fingers and hope that resorting to a massive change in your employment situation won't end in disaster.

The point seems to have gone completely over your head @qyt. You sound like a pretty tough AT&T keyboard warrior though.

"I really don't understand people sometime... "

Then you don't think much past tomorrow do you ?

Imagine if you had 25+ years and are just trying to reach 30 so you can finally retire. Would you throw it away at age 45+ when the world has a very obvious bias against hiring anyone at that age ?

Experience means nothing when compared with a college grad who is up to their eyeballs in debt and will do the job for half the price . . . . .

"Many areas are working their remaining Prems 6 days forced OT "

Cry me a river. Everyone who's been in the field has done 6 days a week. It comes and goes and is part of the job. Enjoy the OT and put it towards retirement at an early age.

We have seen the 6 days a week overtime before with the Prem techs. Question is how long will that last with the available techs as they begin turning down that service?

That harda$s management attitude is going to come back and bite this company big time. Prem Slaves already are quitting in high numbers.

Many areas are working their remaining Prems 6 days forced OT to cover the shortage of workers. Meanwhile, as the abusive working conditions continue, more Prems continue to apply for other jobs and leave this dumpster fire increasing the shortage further.

In the future, AT&T will realize that it has laid off way too many workers and start rehiring. But by then no one will want to work here.

Because we care... we've invested our time and efforts and help build this company. We were there along the way, through thick and thin, we'd like to be here thinking that there's gotta be a change... because we're committed... we're loyal, we just disagree with the company at the moment...

When the going gets tough only losers quit. You sort the problem and be part of the solution.
