Thread regarding AT&T layoffs

Union is a joke in D3

You ask the union questions about anything they tell you they will get back with you and never do. Can’t tell you anything about contract and what we are asking for. It will make you sick when you add up all the union dues we all pay to line there pockets with money. Better off going to the C-sino and playing roulette!!!

Exactly why I put in the effort 10+ years ago to get out of the dues s—ing union!!!... Tedious procedure – as you only have a few days per year and you must "dot the I's and cross the T's" and send EVERYTHING FedEx with tracking. Read the contract because it has specific entities to send your escape letters to. Good luck everyone !!!!

  1. 01 Payroll Dues Deduction.

The Company agrees to make collection of Union dues or an
amount equal thereto from any eligible employee through payroll
deduction upon the order in writing signed by such employee and
to pay over the amount thus deducted to the Union. The
Company will continue to make such payroll deductions for
employees who have properly executed dues deduction cards on
file. Except as provided below, or as provided in the
Memorandum of Understanding between the parties, or as
otherwise provided by applicable law, all cards may only be
revoked during the 10 day period preceding the expiration date of
this Agreement and the same 10 day period each year during the
life of this Agreement.

  1. Cancellations by employees of such written authorization for

payroll deductions must be in writing and the Company agrees
to notify the Union forthwith of the receipt of any such written
cancellations.

  1. Such cancellation requests must be sent individually by

certified mail to the Payroll Office Manager with a copy to
the Union, postmarked during one of the 10 day periods
described in 25.01 above. The Company shall cease such
deductions the month after the receipt by the Company of the
certified notice.
Article
222

  1. The Union may, by written notice (over the signature of its

Secretary) given to the Company, terminate, with respect to
any employee, the obligation and right of the Company to
make such deductions. The Company shall give notice of
such termination to the employee.

  1. Cancellation of such dues deductions will be made by the

Company on the transfer or promotion of an employee to an
ineligible position effective the first payroll period following
the transfer or promotion and will notify the Union of such
cancellation.

  1. Authorization cards which by their terms are revocable at will

are not subject to the 10 day revocation periods referred to in

  1. 01 above.

The union officials only took those positions so that they could sit around and smoke c-gare–es all day and not have to do real work, aka their jobs. D3 union is totally useless.

If you don’t have a union steward , that means no one in your crew has stepped up to volunteer. A union steward is someone in your crew , not someone they just send to you from thin air.

If you do opt out you won’t be able to vote on contract but it probably doesn’t matter for a lot of people being surplus or potential bumpees if you’re in wireline. Not like your vote counts anyway

I agree, we haven’t had a union steward in over 2 years .... don’t get any info. When you try and ask a question it will take days to get a response, if you do. When you try and ask questions on open forums you get smart a–, condensing remarks but no answers. They are not representing us - why are we paying dues!
