Clarification on VPN usage

I was at the VB open mic – to clarify what she said...

She does not look at the VPN usage reports and specifically said you can use VPN whenever you wish, and recognized that many folks need to use it while in the office to do their job. She did not give the all clear to WFH – she said it is up to the individual managers to establish the WFH policy that works best for them. In our case, Fea specifically said in his last TH that everyone is expected in the office 5 days a week. He went on to say that you will be sitting next to folks from other groups with a different WFH policy than his.

VB said that some managers may have been incorrectly using the "no VPN" message as a way to force people into the office everyday. Again she made it clear, VPN is allowed whenever needed and the WFH policy is at the manager's discretion.

Regarding the comment about Jeff being so tight lipped – I don't think we have heard anything significant from him since the infamous January email – I truly think they told him to not send anymore communications – he himself is responsible for the -13 NPS score that VB mentioned. I am almost certain even with the surplus events – had he not sent that email - people would have been more accepting of it – but the email he sent was just so lame and lacking in details and follow up explanation – hard to believe someone at the level would think it was appropriate.

Another comment about what VB said – no more surpluses for the remainder of the year - NEWS FLASH – she probably does not consider the recent outsourcing to IBM a surplus – but depending on your years of service and age it is worse than a surplus. No severance and no MTP for those that would qualify –

I was told that the vpn reports will be looked at closely starting in December. And the lan reports. And they will look to make sure by your IP that you are logging in from the right building IP. So don’t believe what they are saying now. The cats outta the bag and they are just tryin to put it back in. S—s to be us.

"They are done with surpluses that require severance payouts. The strategy now is to make people so miserable they quit, which costs the company nothing and probably even saves money. Sweatshop environments are low cost. Headcount reduction at any cost is the policy going forward".

I 100% agree with this. Clearly, they are not offering any voluntary separation that last couple years...they have done away with voluntarily offering to leave in recent surplus events. And now they are simply telling people they need to start reporting to an office 50 or more miles away from their current one. Completely transparent and reprehensible.

I think by now if you have met the MR75 rule, you are not so much of a target for surplus. You have your money locked in and it is in AT&T's sick interest to make you quit. No severance that way. If you've not met the MR75 rule, lookout because the spreadsheet specialist will gladly have you receive severance vs. retirement benefits.

No, if you don't accept the IBM offer you get nothing at all, no pro-rated bonus, no severance, no unemployment (because you quit, you weren't surplussed), unless you can retire in which case they offer MTP. Take the deal or get nothing was the option for most of us.

For those being moved to IBM did you the option to be surplused rather change companies?

No surpluses is a hard pill to swallow even with ibm and Microsoft announcements.
