Thread regarding AT&T layoffs

D4 contract passed.

This is unbelievable. This time its a good economy and should have waited on D3. AT&T promised to cancel surplus in 3rd quarter.....you took the bait. AT&T takes us as a bunch of naive jokers....i think they are right! I have more respect for the company then the union brothers and sisters. This is embarrassing.

Didn't I see a Vote Down of the TAiin District 4 (Midwest), 68% - No...32% - Yes, a week or so back?

Boy, that was fast! What happened?

Did I miss something here?

If your spouse has health coverage available through their employer but you still have them on your plan you pay a $100 a month penalty.

I think there are plenty of lawyers working for the CWA. As far as contract details there are as follows:

*Nice wage increase over the life of the contract.

  • Higher healthcare premiums $375 by contract end. Higher deductibles and out of pocket.
    Spouse penalty $100 per month
    Smoking penalty $50 per month
  • 1% pension increase annually

Many things stayed the same. Lump sum, prem tech, blah blah blah

Bottom line is the average working man is blinded by pay raises. Feels like he got something. But realistically a employee could be paying $525 a month for healthcare by contract end and that will never go down.

Too bad..membership who doesn't vote...leadership that settles for another "no raise" contract. Kudo's to ATT management who won yet another round....not much winning when Union Leaders who's business experience is a Service Rep or Lineman or Mechanic goes in against highly trained and schooled negotiators. It's a shame there isn't a service the Union could hire to negotiate on our behalf. Expect these same dismal results until Union thinking decides to emerge out of the stone age

YES it is the union's fault. D4 had the ball in their court with D3's contract expiring. They could have applied pressure for a decent contract or better yet held out and coordinated with D3.

If they were going to agree to this garbage, why not due so early on and save us from losing our inflationary raise for a year?

With union's as worthless as this, it's no wonder Americans don't fight for collective bargaining any more.

Not the unions fault... and I’m no fan of the Union. I was hired in very early 1980. A 6 month temp. Went on strike in April.
Newbies today can’t save a dime... rather have some quick cash bonus than a % raise.
Of course they approved it.
But yet they’ll say they voted no as everyone always claims.
And don’t trust the union either.
Glad I’m retired.

T will low ball you all the time but when it comes to pay them you get higher prices for worse service. Something is wrong and it is deep down in the bowls of the company.

Why blame the company or the union? Its the members who voted yes. But the ones who didn’t vote at all are more to blame. Mofos b&)tch and moan about the conditions, and when it comes time to vote they come out saying “ im not into politics” ..
