Rumor is the title of Premise Technicians are currently changing titles part of the reorg? Who has information of this and how does this affect the Surplus CST’s? District 6

I'm out. Got my degree, AT&T payed for the majority of it. I was a southeast ST, then FT, then DT.
I took the advice of a older tech who described most phone people as " all about self ".
Self serving, self centered, self righteous, self motivated and simply just selfish.
For most at AT&T it's the best they will ever do. Like cattle to slaughter. Mindless.
Amazed how many still believe they are valuable assets with minimal certifications.
A title change is not in the cards I’m afraid. The debate over whether PT’s (WT’s in the Southeast) are overpaid or underpaid could go on forever. I will remind you however that it is an entry level craft job for sure and one of the other posters pretty much nailed it: Run jumper wire at SAI (or fiber jumper) place drop wire (copper or fiber) place plastic box (NID) at premise, place RG and run wires and jacks. It can be strenuous labor for sure sometimes, but higher education is certainly not needed to be successful. Yes, their are exceptional techs with a combination of skill/education/certifications that are worth every penny (if not more) of what they get paid, but the same can be said for nearly every title in the union. I started using a ratio of 1:10 (1 tech with exceptional skill and attitude vs. 10 slackers) about 15 years ago and it seems to have held true through today. Look around at your peers (and yourself) and tell me something different.
Every workgroup I’ve ever been a part of at T usually has been the same. 10% of the employees were extremely capable and highly valued, 20% were above average with room to grow and the other 70% were getting paid exactly the same to sit around and be useless. Just my opinion. Enjoy.
I have to agree with another poster on here wire techs are overpaid. I was one for 5 years like a mo–n but what punch down a jumper, hang a drop, run a cat5 and plug sh– in. Not rocket science.
Well I just left from being a prem tech in the midwest for 8 years, and I am making just over 30 a hour now. So our skills must mean something more than most of you think.
Perm Techs may get a new name but they'll still be doing the same sh–ty work under the same sh!tty conditions paying dues to a union that doesn't fight for them or see them as real technicians.
@1teh...actually the Wire Techs are underpaid. The work they do is WS30 which was taken away from the Service Techs. From the serving terminal in is WS30 Service Tech work regardless of the technology. T & the U seem to disagree with me on that one but the ST's don't .
Wire techs are over paid employees, i spoke with a guy who was laid off lately started working for spectrum for $15,.. he is very unhappy
Prem Techs will always be seen by AT&T as 3/5ths a Technician.
Different title shame sh–ty work rules and will still be under appendix E.
