Has anyone on here been affected by the D3 surplus of 911? I’m hearing of individuals having to get on conference calls and finding out who they can bump, who’s getting bumped and where they may be going. Has this happened to any of you?

I was surplussed in D3 last year. We did not get the call from HR with our options until 15 days before the off payroll date. Hope you guys get more time.
Managers are not needed anymore with the automated dispatch tools the company has fielded. So sorry, apply to Walmart.
We pretend to work they pretend to pay us
techs may be busy now, but work will probably slow drastically pretty quickly. they wont be taking anymore uverse orders, and contracts for current customers will just continue to end month after month. more and more internet only installs which are much quicker, and not as much new fiber being installed. pretty soon its going to be nothing but EXJ, EOD move orders customers can do self install. obviously they wont need nearly as many techs. you all knew this was going to happen sooner or later unless you have your head in the sand. they have never kept it a secret. it s—s but as technology moves forward there just will not be a need for techs.
The OT game used to be awesome....especially storm trouble....slam a wet utility wipe across bbox binding post’s and boom....instant cable case with a couple dozen lines buzzing with battery crosses...stay out all night drinking then dry off the box and close out the tickets.....course nowadays there’s not a lot of workers in those xconn boxes
"Cheaper to pay OT than the cost of benefits assoc. with an employee. A VP once stated employees are just a huge expense sink."
A lesson I learned a long time ago is, they can pay me for 40 hours of work and get it, or they can pay me for 70 hours of work and get the same 40. Poor planning by management does not constitute an emergency on my part. We the people who do the work are just a "Cost Sink". Remember that.
I was once surplused while working overtime and busy. Then months later they were trying to get the same people back in their group. No thanks.

Funny, I was thinking the same for VPs. Last I checked, they were employees too. Much more expensive ones.

Same here. Overtime hasn’t slowed up yet our headcount is about to be lowered.
I am an FT in NC and was contacted Wed informing me I would be filling a SIPP takers position. The guy calling said everyone would be contacted this week and meetings would began next week for the affected parties, FWIW
Nothing in N.C. either, only ones contacted were sipp takers.
I haven’t heard that. What I do know is the company is still forcing many of the same surplussed guys to work many hours of forced OT on weekends and evenings. So let’s see. Company says we don’t need them anymore but we have too much work have to force OT. Lol f— this company.
