Just heard latest rumor, surplus of 33% across the board coming in October. Now I see why they call it Red October...

A Reality, as of today Tech Dev has about ~8k employees. On Sept 1st, ~ 2k employees will become moved to IBM, leaving ~6k employees. At some point soon (mayber 9/1) the remaining ~6k are moving to Andrew F. Who knows after that. At that point Tech Dev will no longer exist. Its inevitable so look at your numbers, talk to a financial advisor or three, update resumes, or do whatever you need to do for yourself. Don't wait.

Fine with me, I work with a bunch of fat jerks, who have no external validation or real world skills.
But, they can make them 2 wires talk, know what I mean ?
After two decades of working with over payed, mindless, telephoney studs ..... bring it. They are part of the problem, not the solution.
Welcome to the real world.

33% of 268,000 employees...

The heck you say son?

Almost sounds as if some bitter ex employee making up c-ap to get everyone all fired up.

Perhaps there won’t be any further surpluses this year, and if the Town Hall executives can be truly believed then, perhaps you’re right...it would be nice to slide past Christmas without the pressure.

But herein lies my skepticism because if they Outsource you to ________ (fill in the blank) then they have “technically” kept their word! Sorry for the Capt. Obvious routine but it had to be said as there is no room for false hopes any longer.

@1kgr – No more surpluses this year for our group. The executives have been asked directly in town halls and that is what they have said repeatedly in our group

The catch is - I don't think they consider the recent transfer of staff to IBM as a surplus – to me, what happen to them is worse than being surplussed. That being said, don't be surprised if you hear about more of that happening before the EOY.

@1wby- In our open mic today we were told 1600 were sent to IBM. Where did you get the 9k number from?

No more surpluses this year for our group. The executives have been asked directly in town halls and that is what they have said repeatedly in our group. I believe they are sincere and gave their promise on this. Doesn’t exclude 20Q1, but ya know. At least for the rest of this year we are safe.

Might want to heed the rumors. I heard the rumor before it happened. I was in Tech Dev who over 9K got outsourced to IBM. I've heard October is a lot more from TechDev to be outsourced. Rumor has it that when you go to IBM they make you take a paycut after the year is up "if" they still keep you around. The IBM team said there is no truth to that rumor. We will see. What IBM did state is that it's up to the individual manager on if you een get a raise though after a year, and is not guaranteed for every employee. T used to pretty much give a COLA yearly. Talk about being screwed over on IBM.

I think we know the rest of TechDev will get off'd (outsourced I think) to TechM (@5K employees) around that Oct19 time frame. Outside that, rumor has that that there will be more couple here couple there for surplus.
