Thread regarding AT&T layoffs

Can you say MAJOR competition?

About time the AT&T lobbyists lose one.

AT&T's lobbyists didn't oppose this one. It reduces the number of competitors and T-Mobile will be busy spending money on merger integration. It should allow profit margins in mobility to rise.

A 30+ year member of the T i certainly have my issues with T’s tactics towards its employees but I have to recognize fairness in response to “pesky 180b debt.” So its time to recognize statistics (instead of tactics) and how it plays out to the company and the stock.

The deal on Time Warner closed June 14, 2018....debt is locked in at ~ $180b and 2Q2018 ends 6/30.
AT&T closes out 1Q2019 and reports debt reduced to $172b
AT&T closes out 2Q2019 end of June, July 24 reports debt at 162b

I believe we’re all good enough to recognize a trend here. T has told Wall St. that they intend to draw down debt to $150b by EOY 2019, a $20b impact on the debt....and the Street believes they can do it or the stock wouldn’t have taken a nearly 3% bump last week....individual investors and mutual fund institutions don’t like gambling, they want certainty and T is beginning to offer that and moreover the Street is buying up shares of T.

Time to put aside our anger with the company, it’s impending doom and separate emotions from facts....many of us will make decisions on our Pensions based on certain criteria and facts should be first and foremost. Take the lump sump or the Annuity, but make sure you understand why you are doing it!

With that pesky $180B debt, I guess T just can't throw money around DC like they used to to get their way.

I know it has something to do with spectrum, but don't know enough about the topic to present it properly here — but I am almost certain that it is Jeffrey Freshy who, at his most recent town hall, expressed concern if this deal was approved – because it would have (what I assumed to be) an impact on ATT - because of how the two companies could combine each others spectrum to produce a very fast network – as I recall he might have used speeds observed in South Korea (which were very fast) as an example of what that combined company could do.

My takeaway on this merger was, they were saying that little Sprint couldn't survive, so they had to merge. And the merger is now approved because lo and behold even littler Dish will become the replacement 4th carrier, and will do just ducky. 😜

Randy was also sure that the Sprint/T-Mobile merger would not be approved!

We don’t care. We are in the entertainment business now. We have the rights to “friends” reruns. Randy says all is good, and the plan is coming together nicely.
