Why would AT&T sell DirectTv to Dish when Dish has plans to merge with T-Mobile? What in the world is going on with this company?

Dish is sitting on a mountain of spectrum they acquired at auctions, but cannot deploy. AT&T will enter into a revenue share agreement where our people get their spectrum to carve up and deploy in exchange for a residual based on usage, like an intercarrier roaming agreement. Dish will take over DIRECTV installation and repair service and get a share of monthly subscription revenues. Then we can transfer DIRECTV employees to Dish and reduce headcount. Should skirt Fed oversight.
OP has it all wrong. Directv is not for sale to Dish. DIsh is not merging with T-Mobile.
Dish has possible deal to purchase some assests from the New T-Mobile/Sprint merger to satisfy some Department of Justice anti-trust concerns. Rumor Directv was being sold to dish..Think not. Maybe sell them the assets once everyone is converted to streaming.
Cause CEO's like to bail other CEO's out with their failed ideas so they can keep playing golf with each other at the local country club and talk about how good it is to screw everyone else.
The only reason I would sell DTV to Dish is if the price is right. Otherwise, I'd hang on to it and let the revenues come in from the millions of subscribers that still subscribe to DTV.
Dish is not merging with T-Mobile.
They might acquire assets from t-mobile, plus their existing spectrum, plus assistance from google and launch as a new network.
I bet they are planning to pool technicians who are trained in Dtv will be sold out with Dtv so everyone looses their pensions. So sneaky
