Thread regarding AT&T layoffs

I Just Voted NO

D4 Prem Tech here. I read through the information our union sent to us, imploring us to vote yes. Yet, I see NOTHING of substance that improves working conditions for Prem Techs.

Is this really the best the CWA can do while we work over a year without a contract and give up our raise for that time? And the puny little pay raise the CWA agreed to isn't even retroactive to the expiration of the previous contract. Considering that we've lost a year of inflationary pay increase that is not addressed, this contract makes us poorer than we were to start.

I see that Appendix G gets put into core. But crickets when it comes to Appendix F. Are we still just temp workers in your eyes CWA? We've been here for over a decade. That's a long time for your employer and your union to continue seeing you as disposable.

Voting a resounding NO on this disappointing contract.

Dear Dude,

It’s over, everybody is bailing on the uverse side, techs and managers. If I wasn’t home garaged living/working local I’d be gone too. I’m fortunate than most because of no commute. I’ll probably be here until they change the door codes. But when you step back and take it all in, this slow moving disaster is beautiful in its own way. 😀

Sincerely,

Nachotech 😒

The idea was always to lower costs, by installing services, with techs who didn't make core wages. And who didn't have core contract privilages. They are never going to make any changes to advance prem to anywhere near core wages, benefits, etc.
We are all overhead to the dark lords.

Vote yes, vote no. It doesn’t matter for a perm tech. You won’t see the end of whatever contract you sign.

The union is dumb, why wouldn’t they fight for prem to roll onto core? That would mean higher wages for techs thus higher monthly dues for the union. Core will oppose it but how many prems outrank a core guy? 1-10000 if that. Had prems been in core not so many core guys would have gotten surplused, the prems would have composed the lower tier in seniority therefore they would have been the first to go. I personally wish prems had been in our core contract. More seniority for me, and a longer line for me to get surplused.

Prem techs will never get rolled into core contract....the sooner you come to terms with that, the better your life will be....stack your money, enjoy your benefits and gain as much experience as you can for a different company to work for after At&t. CWA and IBEW have proven they aren’t going to fight hard (strike) to add prem techs to core over the last 10 years....it’s def not gonna happen anytime in the future with all leverage lost.....

as long as you are prepared to go out and stay out for a very long time then I support you guys.
The Co wants to cut back employees so this is a perfect storm for them – I do believe you guys have a great cause – just know if you go out on strike for a company that is looking at getting rid of techs – it could be a long cold winter .. I am speaking from experience .

Also, I saw that the CWA and the company may form a committee to look into Prem Tech quitting times (or lack thereof) at the end of the day.

If the CWA (finally) realizes that "all Prem Techs keep dispatching until the load is clear" every day is a problem, this should addressed in the contract. That's the only way to create an enforceable solution. Creating a committee to talk things over sometime in the future is a complete cop out.

Voting NO on this dog.
