All those wire techs and others that were surplussed back in April have lost the arbitration hearing with the companies tactics. I feel for my union brothers and sisters who have lost their jobs due to the greed of Randell and the share holders.

They should change the name of this site to
TheBullshit.com. It’s all bs.
It’s clear the cwa has no intentions on striking and att knows that. It’s also clear that att has p-ss-d of its workforce to the point of no return. They are spending good money after bad. Their intentions are very clear. So be it. That dictates things att can’t control.
Folks you need to start saving your posts offline for a few days to see if the moderator is going to allow it or not. I wrote a post this morning about posting daily District 3 CWA Contract Negotiation updates to this site and how the company was proposing the changing of how they determine Surpluses and the treatment of those who in fact do get surplussed. I also posted that the Company has already ran a trial balloon with the Wire Techs in the SE in the 2QTR by surplussing based upon Job Performance, Attendance, Disability Cases and other criteria before ever considering seniority. CWA did challenge this practice when it occurred; but, didn't accomplish anything. I also said that seniority is currently being negotiated away at this very moment for those in the CPE markets as well.
Well, the moderator deleted the whole thing in its entirety. So, apparently this site is heavily influenced if not ran by the Company to listen in on what we are thinking. The first time someone posts something with a little bit of substance that may in fact help someone, they delete it. I have read about this problem of Posts being deleted in various places on this site for a few weeks now and this morning it happened to me. So, it is true.
Apparently, you are never going to really be able to get much from this site; because, their motivation and our motivation for having this site are totally different.
Good Luck for the remainder of this Year.
Does anyone know of an alternate site we can go to to learn about what is really going on in this company?
Moderator, I have saved this comment and I will post it multiple times daily every single day if I have to just to tick you off.
Company Lawyers vs. 62field techs negotiating contracts. What did you expect?!?
Who agreed to the bs language that addendum represented employees are surplused on needs of the business basis? They had to know we would take a beating under that language. Should’ve struck last contract over it! Now we core are being surplused and the addendum is more protected than core. Does anyone see the pattern? I’m sorry but whatever dumb–s signed that pos TA signed a death warrant to the legacy core employees they were sworn to represent. That language allows the company to reduce core head count dramatically sending tenured employees home who don’t want to relocate 100 miles away or more and it doesn’t give the opportunity to bump wiretechs like they made it sound during ratification of the last two contracts. Cwa is either incompetent or shady. If the core surplus is in fact set up the way I understand it to be cwa needs to be sued for negligence! 38
The language is in the current D4 contract. The pending TA specifically eliminates that language and goes to inverse seniority only.
I was a victim
Where is Jimmy Hoffa when you need him?
I’ve been with T for over 20 years and they have caved every single time... contract after contract... if you are surprised after all these years I don’t know what to tell you
Wow.....huge failure on the Union Leadership...again .....Does Ditrict 4 have this language in there new contract????
Why is anyone surprised period? That job title has always had a high turnover rate with guys being let go because of performance metrics. Pretty cut and dried there. Have seen former Core Mgrs let go because they didn’t want to enforce that line when they were moved to that group.
Why is anyone surprised the union f up on the contract language? ATT has lawyers with multiple degrees overseeing the contracts.. The union has bob with his GED as president, and the bargaining committee members where honor students at their continuation school.
The union's case was shallow IMO. The D3 contract language for U-Verse clearly states that the company determines the surplus criteria and only yields to inverse seniority if everything is equal (which basically means the company can use whatever means they choose to execute the surplus). While I'm not in agreement with the specific thresholds/logic that were used, they did surplus based on performance and attendance which is exactly how nearly any other company would have. Yet another reason why it's extremely important to show up and ask lots of questions in contract/bargaining explanation meetings with your local.
Pay your union dues and like it.
