I was advised IBM will have a 5 year contract with T. Wonder if they will offer us a job after our 1 year contract is up and cut our pay or do we need to update our resumes? Just curious

Why would it be illegal if the entire business unit is sold off?
I heard SEVERAL people are close full retirement and getting it stuck to them . Many are only months away and getting screwed. Curious how this is legal
I think the original question is whether pending surplus folks are moving to IBM. We have several people who were surplused earlier this year but extended until now.
They aren’t going to IBM. Lucky them, they collected another 6 months of salary and still get a full severance check. We get sold to IBM. IBM will only pay a month when they chop us.
Things have changed, a white shirt, skinny black tie, nose piercings, neck, back and sleeve tattoos, unkempt dirty hair, scraggly beard, ragged jeans and dirty sneakers.
If you don't take the offer does not automatically mean no unemployment. I had a similar situation years ago and was forced out to resign. If you state that on your unemployment application you can get it.
Nope... you can just go home and be unemployed if you want
If you refuse there is no severance, no pro-rated bonus, plus no eligibility for unemployment. You already are no longer eligible for open positions for at least 6 months.
It's a choice but unless you are independently wealthy or already have a job offer or staged for retirement not much of one. They won't acknowledge the gun pointed at your head.
forced? No one is forced. You can choose unemployment instead. But not like you can refuse and be allowed to even try to find an internal job.
Do they still make you wear a white shirt and skinny black tie?
