Thread regarding Wells Fargo & Co. layoffs

Good Marketing is Important to Retain Customers and Acquire New Customers

I think that Wells Fargo needs to reinvent it's Marketing campaigns and it's internal Marketing department. Marketing drives the effort to retain customers and acquire new customers. It is actually a very important part of a well run business. TV is an especially important type of media to advertise on. Have not seen ANY Wells Fargo TV ads for a long time now.

This same old tired one marketing campaign that appears in online searches seems to be their only one that is very visible to the public right now. To receive a $400 bonus, open a new, eligible Wells Fargo consumer checking account with a minimum opening posit of $25 by November 27, 2019. All account applications are subject to approval Direct deposit required: Yes, $3,000 for three consecutive months. That minimum $3,000 direct deposit required surely limits the customers that would be eligible.

Bank of America just totally overworks their employees and then lays them off, or fires them.
Bank of America forces the contract employees to work LOTS of overtime while not paying them for that overtime. When the employees complain they just fire them and give them nasty reviews stating that they are not to be rehired. Very abusive and unethical.

I agree Citi is terrible. Don’t laugh but I do bank with Citi (very much a WF employee, though and not a spy). Citi has a reliable mobile bill pay service but that is about it. JP is not too far ahead. The better ones are MS and BOFA.

All of them except Citibank. Have you’re seen their online capabilities? Pathetic.

Right now the company is all about getting people out of the branches and onto the app. They are worried about losing business to online banks and traditional banks with more online sophistication (all of them).

Not to mention it’s better and cheaper for them.

I just joined WF in July and surprisingly discovered that there were three or four WF branches in the five mile radius from my home (I live in New Jersey). The point is that I had only learned about WF through the scandal stories and did not get the obvious message that the Bank service customers all over the country and has a huge branch network. Clearly, the marketing department did not do a good job educating g the customer. In any case, I am very eager to give my employer the benefit of the doubt. A few bad apples cannot spoil the whole basket.

Wells Fargo needs to rebuild their internal Marketing department. I worked in the Wells Fargo Marketing department for quite a while. The internal employees had some really good marketing campaigns going on. They acquired a lot of new customers and direct deposit checking accounts for the company through those internal Wells Fargo Marketing campaigns.

Through no fault of their own, other employees at Wells Fargo "brought the company down" and for all of the remaining loyal, honest, internal employees it is a struggle to still survive there now due to a small percentage of dishonest internal employees, many of whom may no longer be employed there. Marketing to customers after other dishonest employees destroyed the company reputation would certainly not be any easy task. Perhaps there can be a future recovery?

Stop stealing from customers and employees will go a long way.

Wells needs to get rid of their in house agency, which at this point is completely useless, fire their current advertising agency, which was hired by the current CMO, and start from scratch.
Hopefully a new CEO would make that one of his or her first priorities, which is one of the reasons the current management team is lobbying to keep the temp CEO in place.
There are lots of good advertising agencies out there. Wells need to get one.
