It seems that for mid-level positions (not junior roles nor senior management) it's nearly impossible to get hired in San Francisco. Sure, there are some postings out there that list SF (among other locations that nearly always includes Charlotte) – but it seems like there isn't actually any intention to really fill those jobs in San Francisco. It also seems that when San Francisco employees leave, then the job gets moved out of San Francisco. Maybe Wells Fargo will eventually go the way of Schwab or McKesson?

Duh mckesson is not a bank but a fortune 50 company with its roots in San Francisco who moved out!!!
McKesson is not a bank. But yeah, many companies are moving out. I think there will always be an sf presence, but not as big as it once was.
But seriously.....
Why would you want to work for a piece of sh1t company anyways?
Like a lot of major companies that moved their headquarters outside SF including Bank of America, Schwab, and Mckesson it's now time.
Marketing has hired several mid-level people in San Francisco lately.
It has been shrinking for over a descade the salaries are too high.
Yes, the cost of salaries and teal estate is too high. I wouldn't be surprised in the next few years they'll move their corporate headquarters to Charlotte, NC.
