Thread regarding AT&T layoffs

Called it

I commented in a previous post regarding Donovan and said it’d be McElfresh. Well the email just came out. Now, now replaces him?

Well, bravo it took a genius to call it, sorry but gloating over what was obvious to everyone seems a little silly. I disagree that its a different same devil, I met John Donovan on multiple occasion and rarely did JD say something was going to be a certain way and it end up differently. McElfresh on the other hand in my opinion blatantly lied on multiple occasions and specific when he said the layoffs where not geo-based. I personally know people who were called and were told by HR you are being release because you are not with in a certain distance to a collaboration zone. This lack of honesty at the onset destroyed morale and created a sense of distrust. My experience with JD over the years is he would have been honest on it be a geo related reduction. To me this is much worse and we lost an ethical leader in this company to our detriment.

Randy and the Board keep recycling/fertilizing the SBC tree with the same bad apples. Completely missed a chance to bring in someone from outside the company (even if in the tech industry) to provide some new ideas, momentum and improvement of morale, all of which would've have generated an organic boost to the stock price.

Stankey getting more of a taste of what it will be like when he replaces Randall.

Having Jeff report to Stankey may be an indication that there was friction between JD and Stankey (as reported in articles online) about the streaming products and that Stankey wanted full control or maybe Stephenson was going to make this change with JD there and that is why he retired.

Same devil; different face in my opinion. Doubling down on Stankey too. Now the question becomes how will he structure or restructure the current directs in Donovan's hierarchy. From there it will flow down on the rest of us.

Here we go. McElfresh did a ton of damage to morale and Marachel will carry that torch. It was a wake up call to gtfo . Hope they have a management voluntary offer on ATO with no cap.

I am a little surprised. IMO, given how he handled the January email (lack of content) which was the beginning of the big spiral down in employee moral and subsequent lack of follow up I really did not expect him to be promoted to this position. In his town halls and open mics he has not done anything to impress me.

@xfq. It’s a strategy to better align for 2020, and to figure out who to get rid of first.

It's interesting that the reporting structure also changed. JM will not report to Randall, but to Stankey in a new role. There may be a bit of shell gamesmanship going on.

So is this good or bad? Are we screwed or on a better path?
