Thread regarding AT&T layoffs

What happened after the strike?

I guess this was debated on multiple threads, but I see there is no thread about the experiences of the folks that were on strike. How was it coming back to work? What reactions did the managers have? Did anybody face harsh treatment yet?

First mistake is worry about work loads. Thats the managers problem not yours. Work slow, work safe and if it takes all day for 1 order, then it takes all day. Being on 6 days actually makes the week easier.. ALL hours worked on your “O” day count towards your weekly OT cap.. essentially out of the 6 days you will only be working late 2. Because the rest of the days you can REFUSE work at the end of your scheduled shift, regardless of work load status.

We won. The managers are like trained poodles begging that the work be completed before they are fired. Thats the way it is, live with it.

I was a contingency worker too. On one hand, I felt like the tech managers were happy that life would get back to normal & they wouldn’t have to go out in the field anymore. Seemed like they were looking forward to their guys coming back. On the other hand, I did hear often that there would be a ton of overtime and that the schedule might be 13 on with 1 off or something like that. Either way, the aftermath looks like people aren’t gonna see their kids or own bed much in the next two weeks. Which is pretty sad.

Much respect to everything techs do. It’s not easy work and I totally understand your reason for striking. I hope it all pays off in the end with job security and after catching up, less forced OT.

I was a contingency worker and as I was leaving before the striking techs returned, my contingency manager wrote on a whiteboard in the garage that they would be going to 6 days, 10 hours a day. Judging from the amount we got done (not much!) I'm sure there was a big backlog to be cleared.

6 days forced. Other than that, nope. Hate to say it feels like we went on strike for nothing but it feels like we went on strike for nothing, oh and to increase our already overwhelmed work load.
