Thread regarding AT&T layoffs

Back from strike and my approved day off for labor day is gone!

I have a wedding to go to this weekend and I had approved time off now I come back from the strike and I am being forced to work because it was not PTO and they claim everyone has to work forced OT. I called the union and they say they can’t help me. Sounds like retaliation for a strike to me! How can I get my time off back? If the union won’t help me can I call the Labor Board?

Bahahahahaahhahah!!!! You had your days off grilling and playing frisbee (ahem, I mean picketing).

No more days off for you!

Forced overtime is needed when we don't hire workers and surplus quarterly
Do any mangers want to start working 6/7 days a week
The pay is so bad for 12.00 and hour prem techs they need the hours wouldn't want managers missing bonus
Good ole T and work life balance

How can you not have approved time off and it not be PTO?
(PTO means planned time off?) Was it verbal, he gave you the weekend off?

Retaliation? You're the one who decided to collectively bargain, and you're the one who decided to go out on strike. Now you blame the company for asking you to work to catch up for your attempted effort to put them behind to leverage yourself a larger raise? Maybe you shouldn't have planned a wedding at the same time you decided to go out on strike? I have a hard time seeing how you are going to beat the company, when you're distracted by weddings, when I don't think AT&T gets distracted by special occasions. It's real rich that you want the labor board to help you, and you're going to complain that you walked out on a company by your own will, now you want to complain about having to work, when you yourself collectively bargained and agreed to work of your own free will. It's ironic that you're actually complaining about what you asked for. It was your idea.

Due to workload your request has been canceled. Hope your strike was worth it.

@10MP2TsW If it’s in writing you were approved for the time off you’re ok to take it off.

There was just a strike and work got backed up. Its reasonable to think every employee will be needed for the first few days back to work to get caught up. And there's a hurricane coming.

One last thing.... get everyone to request to view their pocket file... ... interesting to see what’s in there... only going back 3 years is allowed... anything older request removal...

Oh... another thing... if your manager is threatening you.... harassing you... ... file a grievance.... job harassment and hostile work environment.... your reasons are he is threatening and is not offering positive solutions for you to improve... due to his attitude you feel singled out because he treats you differently from others on the crew.... .... don’t worry about how true... ... it’s all about how he makes you feel.... keep the union involved.... you can get it to the point of when ever he wants to talk with you... you can request a union steward present .... if you go this route... you better be good at what you do.... also if he holds you to specific goals... demand everyone else is held to the same standards.... good luck...

Yo.... ex field manager here again.... ... DO NOT CALL IN SICK...!!!! .... calling in sick when you disclosed all you have... ... you will have violated Business Code of Conduct and will have violated SI 24... which will get you fired .... and you don’t want that.... talk with Union Rep to hear their thoughts on disciplinary action.... if you go for the sick... you’re gonna be paid which is where the violation is.... good luck...

Thanks guys. I don’t want to just call in sick but I guess I have to. Want to do the right thing. And no I didn’t egg his car and I don’t think any of us did (but you never know if some stupid guy in the group might have.)

My field "manager" is there to basically harrass and follow techs around and intimidate and fear losing their job. Total waste of space. Totally vinidictive

Think about those guys you met and if you think they care about techs or look at them as disposable resources

The reports are automated no need for a manager to create. Gps tracks your truck, no need to follow, dispatch sends tickets

Take the weekend off... or whatever time you require... you’ve already disclosed the need for the time and how it was previously approved... The Company revoked it due to needs of the business... .... don’t come in... ... he’ll write you up... maybe suspend you for job abandonment at the worst but odds are not fired... ... when you come back file a Grievance for all the reasons you stated and also for retaliation because he suspects you egged his car... whether true or not doesn’t matter... it’s just more stuff he has to deal with.... in the grievance you want to be made whole for lost time and pay... you want the documentation removed from your pocket file.... and going forward... call him out on all shady matters... file frivolous grievances... make his life horrible.... good luck.... ... btw I’m a former field manager... I know how to play...

Yup.

As bad as it sounds, they can't stop you from taking a sick day unless you've exceed your sick time for the year.

If they want to play stupid games, play stupid games.
