I really needed the time off. I don’t care that I’m not getting paid. It’s great to get things done around the house. I haven’t been able to get time off approved for going on 6 months now !

If your sick. you get written up. if you surp, by taking unpaid day off, it noted as if there was no work, lose lose. if your sick you shouldn't get in trouble for it. toxic environment.
we've been on forced 6 days. guys have been getting denied time off. SE florida. 1 got denied for leave because child born over 2 months early, wtf kinda manager does that shxt. he eventually got it off after persuasion from another manager.

Sadly, it doesn't work this way.
If you ask for unpaid time off and / or a leave of absence, HR tends to look upon it as you have too many employees in your crew if you can afford to lose any.
Managers and anyone who has been with this company long enough to see it happen before knows this as well. Thus, do they frown upon asking for unpaid time off of any kind unless it is a true emergency.
The possible Hurricane is going to hit the Destin area probably Sunday. Good thing you didn't schedule a trip!
