Thread regarding AT&T layoffs

CWA/AT&T Southeast Bargaining Report #47

“Today the Union and the Company met to discuss the various bargaining proposals on both sides. Discussions are intense but there is a possibility that negotiations could move forward. We are inspired by the solidarity across the District. You have proven to the world that you will fight back against the Company's unlawful acts, and rest assured we will not stop fighting for you. Our bargaining team will be working late tonight. It is our desire to reach an agreement and attain the contract that our members deserve.”

This sounds shady AF! I believe this was all sorted out last week and this “strike” was always planned to end no later than Wednesday. The Union just wants to pretend that they are “working hard on our behalf”. We get to strike so it looks like we are being effective and the company gets too look like they worked with the union & cane to a compromise on the demands. sigh

The union should have a national call out sick day outside district 3 to grind the hole company to a holt

They have to make an accusation of unfair labor practices because a ULP strike is protected from AT&T hiring permanent replacements unlike an economic strike. It doesn’t mean there actually are unfair labor practices occurring just that the allegation prompted it so the strike action is protected. The downside is intermittent strikes for ULP allegations are prohibited.

@sdv This strike isn’t about being unable to reach an agreement on a new contract. It’s about CWA accusing AT&T of unfair labor practices.

So I assume T now has someone at the table who is able to negotiate in good faith and all ulp charges are dropped?

The strikers need to walk until an agreement has been reached at the bargaining table. The National Labor Relations Board does not allow intermittent strikes. If you come back in during ongoing negotiations, you cannot go back out if you do not agree with something the company is demanding at the bargaining table.
