D3 Strike

Does anyone know for sure how long the strike in the southeastern states is supposed to last? It will be useless if it ends tomorrow. In 1983, it lasted about 3 weeks, and to my knowledge, that was the last time the company walked. Good luck D3! I hope you get a good fair contract !

2vjd - Anyone striking on the 1st would not have company subsidized health insurance but would be eligible for COBRA. Not sure if CWA is assisting with paying COBRA.

Would health insurance lapse if they don't reach an agreement before the end of this month?

@1ufi...yep...for the 30+ years I've been around here CO & DEG equipment placement (not plugs) has been contracted out to Lucent then Mastec picked it up about 15 years or so ago.

“For years mastec has been installing CO & RT-DLC equipment(hope article 14 doesn't get taken away). I'm sure installing a drop, RG, and IW won't be too hard for them either.”

Years you say?? Well then omg they can do it 😲. God you’re a dolt. I’m sure sure sure sure of it.

For over a decade now Stevenson has played this bargaining scam over and over again. The less employees the better....he couldn't give a hoot about workers. The union can push back but this could lead to southeast being another northeast. We all know how that turned out. This CEO has no interest in bargaining. He's a one way street. Good luck

@1yax...how about this:. Instead of T having to pay $ for the ULP charges why don't we instead amend all of T's labor contracts to have a unified expiration date? Sounds fair to me since T is all about saving money.

When AT&T is found guilty of the ULP the fine is 37,000.00 per affected employee.

What are the penalties for T if found guilty of ULP?

“All fun and games until Wire Techs learn their job can be easily contracted. MasTec can put up a dish and run coax...believe me they can run cat5 and plug things into a wall.”

In your dreams Pedro. You inside folks don’t understand it takes a little more than what you think in your small head to get it going. Just because we make it look easy doesn’t mean it is.

But mastec can handle all the dtv they want! I’m good with that. 😎

Article 14 in the labor contract no longer exists. The contract expired!

The National Labor Relations Board prohibits “intermittent strikes.” So if the strike ends it restricts the right to have another short term one for a bit. The timing was a little off. Should have scheduled it after the 1st so strikers had health insurance through September if they stayed out. Now they have to be back before end of month with an “unconditional offer to return to work” under NLRA law or they lose health insurance next month.

This is response to the MasTec guy. Wiretechs are protected by article 14 in D3, so do your homework next time. We will continue to strike until we get someone on the company's behalf that can make decisions.

How quickly do labor charges get addressed and resolved?

Latest update says they will be out until the company sends someone to the bargaining table who can make a decision.

Rumor has it Wednesday morning. My understanding is that if we go longer than that holiday pay for Labor Day is in jeopardy. (But maybe September health insurance is a bigger deal.)

What a joke!! They should stay out until the company changes their attitude and begins a legitimate and fair bargaining process.

Until 10:00am eastern on Wednesday, supposedly. Not sure if employees would be coming in for the remainder of their shift that day. I assume you could also schedule vacation those days if you wanted to get paid for that time.
