Been an AT&T employee & customer for over 20 years. Currently have DirecTV and have enjoyed service for most part but my teenage children wanted Netflix. I have to say that I’m taken back by the streaming speed compared to DirecTV on demand and the original series/movies made just for Netflix are incredible not to mention the relatively low cost. I’m also seeing more advertisements for Amazon original series as well..... question is, why are we so far behind on programming, price point and original content?

The issue here is at&t is late to the game...as per usual. Problem is at&t should be trying to save customers or at least converting them to a service that is less money and get away from traditional tv. Although the culture in their stores seems to be the opposite, with them wanting to push their tv service along with raising the prices on the stuff they should be lowering them on.
It’s a bit late to “get on the ball” especially when your start from the antiquated premises of wanting to buy yourself into relevance.
Netflix has been at it awhile and know what they’re doing, us on the other hand not so much.
We over paid for Time Warner. Those billions could’ve been spent creating our own in house production brand. But that would’ve taken competent people choosing competent people, know what I mean?
Yeah had dtv where I was on vacation. Horrible just horrible slow changing channels and didn’t work when it stormed. Terrible!
- as a follow up to my original post, I can see how easy it would be to disconnect DirecTV all together and just use streaming services on our smart TV. Also be easy to utilize digital antenna for local programming.
I really hope the brain trust here at T and Warner Studios gets on the ball soon. If we don’t put out a reasonably priced streaming service with popular content, original series and sports channels... other than rural areas with zero choice, we’ll lose majority of our subscribers.
These teenagers living in my house today will soon be out on their own and they won’t pay $100+ a month for streaming services.
