Managers are lazy unskilled bums. Upper management will eliminate them soon enough, this will expedite the process.

A one day strike doesn’t have any impact! The union is in bed with the company and is pacifying its members. Wake up people!

Congratulations in showing the resolve and the fighting spirit to take this step D3! D4's union leaders took the cowardly path and received a sh!tty contract as a result. Lets hope you are successful in getting a good contract D3.

Best of luck!

Been on both sides. Went on strike for 3 weeks in early 80's then to have the worthless union take out back union dues for the time we were out of work and no help for those in union that needed help after missing 3 weeks pay. I see they haven't changed. A lot of good techs and customer reps out there but harder and harder to find. Moved to management shortly after strike...and never looked back...a lot of great opportunities to learn and better my lot. Union ok with that as long as everyone makes the same thing - good or bad. I always wonder why those that hate the company they work for so bad they have to go and run them down instead of trying to help....dang FIND somewhere else to work if you don;t like it...

I'm a manager, I just got deployed, it'll s—; but I hope the union gets what it wants. AT&T puts the same squeeze to managers that they do to the union, we just have to take it or be replaced by someone in India or eastern Europe.

This isn't management against the union. It is the union against Randy and his direct reports. No one below their level has the slightest bit of decision making authority. I've heard VPs complain about not being allowed to make simple decisions.

Incompetent? No. Out-of-practice? Absolutely. Last time I was a real technician was back in the service... where you kept the equipment running or people could die. My skills were one of the qualifiers that got me a job here to begin with.

As for my boss, I never see him. Nor talk to him that much. That's what you get with multiple mergers and global restructuring.

That said, the company doesn't really expect those deployed to maintain operations to the same degree that the normal crew could. We just have to keep the lights on. Restore critical outages, and everything else can be deferred. Restore times will be slow, but then, customers aren't tied down to a single land-line anymore, are they? Customers have lots of options. Critical criteria is a joke these days.

But I wish you guys well tho, and I hope negotiations resume in good faith. In the end, we are all just trying to make a living. Good luck to you.

Don’t worry my union friends. We’ll work straight through until Wednesday and then you folks will be back to work on Thursday and face immediate forced OT to get us back to normal. And you’ll lose 3 days pay and not gain anything in contract negotiations. Very smart indeed......Thank you

Looks like the op pinched a nerve there hpt.
You will struggle just like the other managers out in the field for a few days. You call yourself a manager and listen to your childish response.

The T is slowly taking away anything of benefit to the employee. GREED!!! But the fact is your employees built the company & the employees can destroy it just as well.

@mtj....this is the perfect place to be discussing things. Minus the trolls who simply want to stir stuff up, this is a great way to get unbiased information without the spin of T and the U.

@10Gnb5xt-rir - Do you realize there are Managers out here that still believe and support the Union and its efforts? Also, some of the “tough talk” is coming from your Union Brothers which show zero respect. Everyone is just trying to make a living. To degrade a person just because they are Management is childish. As a Manager I deal with immature workers everyday. I don’t side or agree with over zealous Managers and I put up with immature workers. Having a confrontational attitude pushes sympathetic Managers away from Union causes. Good luck but again, 3 day strike effects nothing.

Big Deal. The "incompetent managers " as you put it, can learn your skill and job in no time flat, and do it far better than you, making you even more expendable than you are ready are, hanging by a thread. Many managers look forward to a strike; gets then out of the office, a nice change of scenery, get to have a nice change of pace while learning something new, also added to their resume. Mangers that get called to CP duty, ultimately win (they’re still working and getting paid either way). Union workers, ruled by their communistic overlords that they are forced to pay dues too, lose.

Go ahead and puff out your chest and stomp around like a gorilla in a zoo. You are in a cage and too dumb to know it. In the end you will line up and get on your knees and open wide and take what the company gives you. You been gulping it down so long you don't even notice it.

Go ahead you union zombies and give this a negative reaction, it'll have just as much impact as your strike.
