Thread regarding AT&T layoffs

District 3

Seem like union not focused on wiretech priorities.

@2kbd....you are correct that folks have the same hourly wage, but some folks receive extra payments by achieving a certain score on their numbers. Unfortunately, this is often attained by book cooking and doing $hitty looking-no forethought or plan for the future half A$$ work while other employees take the time to do things correctly and receive no extra incentive pay and often times get written up for not making their numbers.

Everyone makes exactly the same check no matter how much they work or just show up. That's socialism. No incentive to do anymore than the minimum. Do you tell your kids to go to school and just do enough to get by?

Why would anyone feel motivated to work when all OF your raises are the same and the last one asked to leave is the one who has been sitting in the chair the longest. WOW.

CWA only protects itself, nothing more. They’re riding the coat tail remnants of past agreements as jobs and membership are continually eliminated. I hope they go under one day.

I completely agree that the union rightfully protects on a seniority basis. If I have been paying union dues for 10 years versus someone who only have been paying dues for 5 years you damn right It should be taken into account when there is an unfortunate downsizing declaration. Skill and ability are factors that only impact a company and its operations. Those factors are not something that impacts union membership or standing.

Many people need to realize that the union is a business. It’s first objective is protect itself as an entity.

It shouldn’t be based on seniority like “Time in Grade”? Joe made it to E6 SSGT 9 years of service with 4 years in grade while Bob got to E6 SSGT in 5 years. SSGT Joe still top dog according to USAR. Good luck with that one PVT.

Seniority is the way the contract choses who stays or goes.

This is how you know all this contract negociations is a sh—show. There is more wiretechs than FTs and STs combined, but wiretechs have only an addendum in the book..

That mean old union. Perhaps you should just go into management. No union to hold a go getter like you back.

it shouldn't be seniority based some of us spent a couple yrs in the military before coming to AT&T..just bc Joe applied 3yrs before Bob that doesnt mean Joe should get better treatment from the union....just bc someone has been here 9yrs doesnt make them a better employee than some with 5yr(just an example) union is BS IMO

How many years do you have? Union protects in order of seniority.
As they should.
