Managers are scared and have more fecal matter in their drawers than a colony of Los Angeles homeless folks.
So I guess you’ve got an extra $5000 laying around to live on while you don’t get paid. Period. Strike = no pay and once the end of the month rolls around the healthcare is gone, however you can buy cobra for some ungodly amount of money. Any strike will be well planned out between the company and CWA leadership.
It’s hilarious that you think no contractor could step in and do your work. Like somehow no one in the entire country understands copper/fiber telecommunications installation, repair, splicing or trouble shooting.
This isn’t rocket science, it’s a color code, few pieces of test equipment and acronyms you need to memorize and you are a technician.
Let’s get real folks, you are not mechanical engineers, electricians or even a real journeyman lineman.
You can do this job with a minivan and an extension ladder plus your union is a joke!

It could be a symbolic strike for a few days or weeks just so the U management can say they went through the motions before agreeing to the inevitable.
With d4 having an agreement and d3 now being on its own, do any of you really believe the union will call a strike? They have yet again given away the leverage that could have been used against the company, for what? So you "betters" in the upper levels of the union can tell you in a week or so "well we really worked 'em over! and then when questions are asked it's always "its the best we could do"
If by some chance there is a strike, no one will be more surprised than the union.
