Thread regarding AT&T layoffs

This is not working

I work in retail, and all we hear everyday is "sell DTV" "we are an entertainment company." "DTV is all that matters so SELL SELL SELL." At&t wants to be the top provider but yet, we lost Nexstar and probably CBS. How are we to sell this c-ap of a service if we don't offer major network stations? I am scared to look at my current commission statement and see how many charge backs I am getting due to customers cancelling their service with in 6 months of install. I've had several customers contact me already with their concerns and wanting to go with anotherTV provider. At&t needs to figure out their own issues without affecting their customers and the sales team. If we don't sell DTV, then we will not be employed long enough to go thru retails surplus buyout.

Sad to read. It is just like 'sell land line phones' during the wireless explosion or 'sell connected tablets' even though they quickly churn. They will soon move onto another product to push. Grab your life vest and head towards the life boats.

Maybe sales is not your thing.

Local live news and live sports are all that’s worth paying for. Everything else can be found for free or purchased individually. Look at the TV ratings. Local live news and live sports dominate, nothing else is even close.

They did the same with wireless, Sell, Sell, Sell, at all costs and destroyed landline in the process. I know MA’s who were instructed to give customers times of 3-4 weeks out for a landline repair and offer a cell phone plan in the same sentence. I’d then talk to the outside guys and they would tell me it was normal repair load and couldn’t believe they were backed up more then a day or 2. This started in the mid 2000’s and was part of the destruction by design process that is still used today. You make service, repair, and product offerings so bad on a part of the business you no longer want, that customers will eventually leave and you can justify cutting off the funding.

Ok, you guys and gals realize that we are not going to be offering any local programming real soon. Cx will have to use app or antenna devices to get local channels. Also all large networks are removing their content off of services like Netflix and Hulu, to create their own streaming services. Once someone pays for all the streaming services, they might as well by some sort of traditional tv service, because it will be cheaper. Uverse sales stop, starting this year.

If they are not telling you to push DTV NOW streaming they are wasting your time. Subscription TV with unskippable ads is a dead product.

Perhaps trying to keep costs down for content would be beneficial to our customers...
